  • How far have you taken your AI'ing?

In the quest for what *WE* think are the best Imagineering ideas for DLR I'm curious how far you all have gone with your AI ideas.

When I was in jr high (around 1982 or 1983 i think) my friend Michelle and I came up with a very rudamentry idea for a new themed dark ride at the Adventures through Inner Space show building. We drew a map for the track, sketches of the ride vehicles and a storyline scene by scene. Then, with some help from her parents, we sent the idea in to Disneyland. I think we just sent it to the park in care of The Imagineers. About 3 months later we got a letter back thanking us for the time and effort we put into our idea, but that there were already a lot of Imagineers working on ideas for new rides and such.

I found the neatest part of the whole experience was the letter we got in return. It was not mocking or rude, but very kind and it made a couple of 11ish year old girls feel like their idea had actually been looked at (altho now i'm pretty sure it was most likely glossed over-and who can blame them!)

Anyway, I just felt like sharing this and would love to hear if any of you have done something along the same lines....carry on!

Wow. Never sent any in but I've planned loads of detailed stuff.

Mostly I paint and draw concept artwork. I have all the stuff in my head for the actual logistics but I'm not very good at engineering etc, I'm more creative, so I struggle to put that to paper.

I think it would be great to get a letter back.

When my dad was a kid he sent in sketches of what he thought the Autopia cars should look like. They sent him a press kit or something.

Then after the Chevron redo, he thought he reconized one of the new cars :P

Worked out most of ride ideas, sketches, etc, and actually communicated with WDI college submission program but they aren't accepting in my field this year, so holding off for a year or two.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

I've worked out many sketches and story lines for attractions. I am also an avid fan of building fantasy parks in RollerCoaster Tycoon. The farthest though is that I'm in my second of five years going after a degree in architecture so that the armchair can be put in storage. I'm also considering entering the ImagiNations competion.

Even if they had loved your idea, they couldn't have used it. I heard that Disney cannot use ideas about attractions and themeing, etc., given by people. It could possibly result in legal problems, i.e. you sued them for using your idea.
