  • Favorite B-list rides?

My husband and I are going to Disneyland/DCA for two Sundays in a row at the end of October with my father from out of town. My father doesn't come down very often, and we usually only go to Disneyland/DCA for one day; so when we go together, we do what all good one day visitors try to do: cram as many e-tickets into the day as possible. We are specifically going two days this fall to enjoy the things that are missed by most visitors with the same one day mentality.

So, what are some of your favorite B-List attractions in either park? (I know B-List is subjective. If you need to, think of it as what are some of your favorite non-E-ticket rides? Or, what are your favorite rides that the average visitor looks over?)

The one B-List I ALWAYS have to do is Storybook Land Canal Boats. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I just wish they had the Return to Oz diorama in Disneyland's version.

Oh oh oh! The Winnie the Pooh ride! It's cute, the music is cute, the colors/graphics are FANTASTIC, and it tells a bit of a story. LOVE that. It gets a lot of derision, but I think it's great.

Other than that, I love most of the rides... not a big fan of Tomorrowland, but I think most of the DL rides are worth at least one shot.

Over in DCA, I LOVED the Animation Academy, next to the theater with "Turtle Talk with Crush", and no one had ever told us how much fun it was! Also, the Orange Stinger was fun, even though it's basically a county-fair type of ride.

What rides have you skipped over in the past?

Some of my favourite rides were the Fantasyland 'dark rides'. Now, I'm not sure if these fit your 'B List' category, but many of these are underrated, especially when compared to the bigger rides.

When you think about it, the same could be said about DCA. Often overlooked, but pretty good on its own merits.

I like Mulholland Madness over at DCA. I don't hear too much about that one.

And I just discovered Billy Hill and the Hillbillies at the Golden Horseshoe so maybe that counts?

I loooove Alice in Wonderland. One of my all-time favorite rides. People always say, "The tea cup ride?" No! The other one....Alice. A lot of tourists don't ever go on it.

I also love the stinger! That is my must do for any county fair. Sometimes, if I'm moving through DCA quick enough, I'll hop on it. But it is usually the first one to get the axe if I'm running out of time.

              Rides/Attractions I've missed:

              Disneyland, Never Did Ever:
              • Explorer Canoes
              • Astro Orbitor
              • Gadget's Go Coaster
              • King Arthur Carousel
              • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
              • Sailing Ship Columbia
              • Golden Horshoe Revue
              • NONE of the Main Street Vehicles
              Disneyland, Usually Pass Over:
              • Autopia
              • Mad Tea Party
              • Innoventions
              • Main Street Cinema
              • Honey, I Shrunk the Audience
              • Casey Jr. Circus Train
              • Dumbo
              • Most of the Fantasyland Dark Rides as the lines can be ridiculous, although if we do ride some, we usually skip Pinocchio and Snow White as their technology is a bit dated
              DCA, Never Did Ever:
              • None of the Bug's Life Area rides
              • Golden Zephyr
              • Maliboomer
              • King Triton's Carousel
              • Mulholland Madness
              • Grizzly River Run
              • The Aladdin Show
              • Turtle Talk with Crush
              • Playhouse Disney - Live on Stage
              • Seasons of the Vine
              DCA, Usually Pass Over
              • Orange Stinger
              • Sun Wheel
              • Disney Animation

Muholland Madness in underrated. Too bad they are removing it soon.

It's a sentimental favorite but I vote for Enchanted Tiki Room. Grab a pineapple spear outside and take a quiet mid-afternoon rest inside. Ah, refreshing!

At DCA, nobody seems to get over to "It's Tough to Be a Bug!" It's a fun yet disturbing experience for first-timers and still a good time for repeaters.

Another "yea" for Orange Stinger and a big "nay" to "Golden Screams."

                    Good morning, son
                    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                    It was pain
                    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

It's sad to see Alice passed up. It's one of my favorites too. I may even rate it as my favorite Fantasyland dark ride. Much better than the tea cups IMO.

                        Pinocchio, childhood nostalgia I think
Casey jr, Storybook and Alice are all favorites. And I love the Main Street vehicles.

DCA, I love Tough to be a bug, love the animation building and Redwood Creek can be a life saver when your kid needs to run and burn energy

The Explorer Canoes are great, especially if it's a warm day. (You're going to get splashed by the person in front of you who just can't get the concept of rowing in unison)

Find a seat at the bow of the Mark Twain after dark. Pure magic! (...or ask politely if you can join the pilot.)

Do take a moment to ride the Main St. Firetruck. It was Uncle Walt's personal toy. You can't get closer to the source of The Magic.

Ride the Disneyland RailRoad. Ask if you can ride the "tender" directly behind the engineer!

Ride the carousel. It's just good ol' fashioned corny fun.
"Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."
