  • APs blocked out July 17!?

We just convinced ourselves that we really should be there July 17th... then noticed that APs are blocked out that day.

OK... I guess they want paying customers and fat profits but still... it just seems wrong. Turn away your most loyal fans on the most important day?

I'll probably pay the upgrade to get in but as a guy who carries a Disneyland card in his back pocket every day, I wish I felt more special. :monkey:

Yeah. I'm buying my AP later on this month, and just paying the $30 to get in on July 17th. No way am I buying a premium!

I know......I swear I've bought over $300 in disneyland merchandise and food in the past year and you'd think they'd give me a break

Walt would've cut the APs a break.

        More reason to boo Eisner.
My fondest memory of Walt Disney was the day Disneyland opened....I was standing next to him - I was 12 years old - he was looking at the gate where people were coming through, he had his hands behind his back, he had a grin from ear to ear, but you could see the lump in his throat and the tear coming down his cheek because his dream had been realized. -- Mouseketeer Sharon Baird, "Mouseke-Memories", Walt Disney Treasures: The Mickey Mouse Club

Actually, I'm looking at it as the perfect excuse to upgrade again to a premium... I've missed mine!

Actually, if you can wait, buy your AP on July 17th. They will allow you entrance into the park on the day you purchase an AP even it if is a blackout day.

The way I like to look at a premium pass... you can have one for the same price as a daily cheap cup of coffee that costs 92 cents. Now if you go to starbucks, that's the equivalent of a pack of 4 PAPs. Time to kick the habit!

I hope they don't block out the blackout tickets. We plan to pay the extra to get in that day.

Why not have a premium AP? It's only $339 oh only 309.00 for renewing in the mail, so you can enjoy the park 365 days a year with 10% off merchadise and free parking. and food discounts too. I don't go in the months of june, july and augs either.
                      Are we there Yet?

I hardly think it will detour people from the park...it just means the real fans will have to shell out more to enjoy the fun! I am not saying real fans are defined by AP status, but lets face it most fans I know have a pass.

Sadly, with the amount of $$$ I spend on merchandise annually at Disneyland.. the 10% discount more than pays for the PAP!

                            hey, my first post!

I don't know. My poor college budget doesn't allow for a premium pass at the mo'. I'd feel bad using my entire savings on a PAP... ahhh..

Question: should I just go on the 17th to get my AP like Tom Chaney suggest? I'm weary because the AP pass line was CRAZY on the 5th? I expect just as long of a line on the real 50th... HELP!

You buy your AP at the ticket booth in the entrance plaza. They give you a temporary AP that will get you into the park and can be used in FastPass machines. You can then go to the AP center in the park at your leisure to get your "permanent" AP. (Frankly, I don't know what happens if you don't go at all that day... we've just always toughed out the line.)

Thanks, Tom. I'm probably going to get my So Cal one when I go later on this month, though. I'd rather eliminate one line on the 17th (cause you know they're going to be nutsoid.)

I have an annual pass. I'm not blocked out that day.

No AP on the 17th?......No problem!

Here is one way to look at it... If you have to pay the extra to get a ticket on July 17, Do you have ANY idea what a cool souvenir having a ticket stamped from that day will be? and who knows, in 10 years it might pay for your AP for the 60th, if you sell it on E-Bay
