If you ever get the chance, go see Charles Phoenix's "Disneyland" slide show. Charles buys old family vacation slides from flea markets and estate sales and puts together themed programs. He has one slide show solely on Disneyland that dates from the 50's to the 80's. Really cool slides of the original Tommorland.
(but of course, there's aunt Helga in the slide also.....)

I love looking at old DL photos :-) It's amazing to see how some things are different, but some are almost exactly the same.

One of my favorite sites is http://www.yesterland.com They've got some great pictures of the park and it's old attractions from back in the day.

My mom has some picts from when she went there back in, I believe it was 1957 or 1958. Unfortunately all she has are picts of the parking lot facing the entrance and maybe Adventureland. There's some others from when small world opened too but that's it. I should scan them and share.

The Disney company changed the Pirates- chasing- women to women chasing Pirates with Food. Some say it was for advocating rape, it was either a P.C group or Feminist Group, Not sure which that spoke up quite loud that management changed things. That is all I heard. I see there point, and to bring it up to the 90's (when it was changed)
Does anybody have the actual facts?

Does anyone know when the motorboat cruise closed? I'm trying to figure out if it's even possible I went on that before it closed.

I'll toss in a reccomendation for this site which I found tonight for more old Disneyland pictures and info. They have stuff for even the shortest lived things at the park, such as the women's underwear shop, which wasn't just short-lived but also one of the quickest things to disappear from the park.

Not everything is as well represented (Adventureland and Critter Country in particular aren't), but I was impressed with it anyway.

Motor Boats closed around 1994 I believe, maybe before that. They added the "Gummi Glen" theme to it prior to shutting it down.
