  • Monsanto House of the Future, revisited

well, sort of. This article made me think of it:

    http://biz.yahoo.com/special/luxury100506_article1.html

These people probably could have been prevailed upon to build a "house of the future" in Tomorrowland.

They say when they went to demolish the MHOTF, that the wrecking ball bounced right off of it.

I heard that. Pretty funny story. Hey, at least the house was durable!

I think the MHOTF is still a house of the future - it could easily come back and fit into a tomorrowland theme. Many futuristic things never came to pass for everyday living from that house - and many more could be added. And since "mid-century modern" is so in vogue . . . .

          Very interesting article?

Where did MHOTF used to stand? where BLAB is now?

I believe it was around where the Ariel meet and greet/King Triton fountain is now.

Just west of there, between the entrance to Tomorrowland and the Matterhorn.

As I understand it, if you look carefully in Triton's Gardens, you can still see the base for the House of the Future!

Great article about the House of the Future, which was designed at MIT: http://www.technologyreview.com/read....aspx?id=14056

I had heard that on at least one of the tours, they point out the former foundation of the house of the future. i've never been able to confirm a particular location, however.

maybe I need to do the tour!

Another good article about the House of the Future.

                            http://www.mindfully.org/Plastic/Mon...ftheFuture.htm

Personally I like it and would love to have a home like it.

It might also be good for low-income housing construction, seeing as how the costs to build are much cheaper than for traditional housing.

Its the foundation of the house.

I think hes asking about a photo of the base at the king triton fountain that hyperbole mentioned.
at least im hoping, since you posted 2 photos.
