do any of you think disney would ever give up the idea of 2 parks and just combine both parks ? i think thats the only way they would really get people into dca but of course you know the ticket prices would blow up what does everyone think?

Re: ok heres a wild thought
No I don't think they will. They built a second park for a reason and that reason wasn't to expand Disneyland. Had they wanted to do that they could have pretty much put everything worthwhile DCA has into Disneyland proper itself(and for a heck of a lot less money).
I would like to see the two parks connected via a SkyWay or Peoplemover(or even the Monorail) but they should(and will) stay two seperate gates.Waiting forGodotMicechat.com

Re: ok heres a wild thought
Even if they tried to combine to two parks, everyone would ALWAYS think of the Disneyland part as Disneyland... and the DCA part as something else.
It really wouldn't make good business sense, either. As two parks, they can charge two admissions."Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

Re: ok heres a wild thought
Yeah, that is a pretty wild thought.
How could you combine two parks?!!!You have to think about theming. And....can you imagine diluting Disneyland and all it's splendor with DCA? Bleck.... :yuck:
What would we call this new park? Disney's Californialand? (Actually, isn't that what a lot of non fans mistakenly call it anyway? )
And to everyone who talks about raising ticket prices, it is just impractical. That would also affect the price of park hoppers, etc. And think about WDW. Would they start to charge more for Epcot than the Studios? It just wouldn't work.....

Re: ok heres a wild thought
The solution to getting people into Disney's California Adventure is quite simply really. Disney just needs to admit that Disney's California Adventure is not on par with Disneyland and have a seperate 1-Day Disneyland ticket and a cheaper 1-Day Disney's California Adventure ticket (but not so cheap as to attract riff raff).

Re: ok heres a wild thought
i have been saying that since it opened. if they had offered a slightly cheaper ticket price for DCA(even 5-10 bucks less, but 15-20 would be best) there would have been a lot less trash talk about dca! i was one of those whose AP's expired right beofre DCA opened and they stopped selling the dual park pass since DCA was supposed to be soooooo crowded. we were pretty mad! we had called to inquire about pricing and even asked, "should we drive up today (i think it was a tues or wed) or can it wait until we are there saturday?" and we were told it was ok to wait. come saturday they had stopped selling the dual park passes. we made a trip to city hall and filled out a formal complaint. they did give us 2 one day passes to dca which we did use a few weeks later and although we did enjoy the new park, we werent as mad that we didnt have the dual park pass. once it became available again(it was only a month or 2 if i remember right) we did upgrade, but mostly so we have a place to relax when DL gets too crowded and we also like screamin and soarin year round and grizzly in the summer.MCDA - A Healthier, Happier Me!

Re: ok heres a wild thought
The biggest problem wit combining the parks is attendance. If Disneyland keeps up with several days of the year reaching capacity what happens when you add the capacity of Disney's California Adventure? Disneyland/DCA all of a sudden has a much larger capacity but all of these extra people will be in the north section of the park that constituted the original Disneyland. So Disney would be loosing a small safety valve of being able to send people to Disney's California Adventure when Disneyland is packed with people.

Re: ok heres a wild thought
do you really think they're gonna be spending 650 million over the next few years just to combine the parks? or worse yet (from their standpoint) lower the price?? nooo way. the reason theyre finally injecting so much cash into the park is so that it can eventually stand on its own and bring people in w/o having to hear people clamoring for a combined park or a discounted ticket or anything like thatHere you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.

Re: ok heres a wild thought
I am all for the improvement of DCA but not combining the two parks. In my opinion that is a crazy idea. They didn't need to build DCA if they wanted to expand Disneyland.Check out my new Disney Blog here. What it lacks in quality it makes up with... Well, nothing I guess.

Re: ok heres a wild thought
I feel like most here that they shouldn't combine the parks, but do believe that a cheaper admission to DCA would boost attendance.
I admit to being a DL fan, but not a DCA fan at all. I actually refused to step foot onto DCA (or any Disney park that isn't DL). But, have made an exception this year for Mickey's Halloween Treat. At $24 with parking included I figured it wasn't a bad deal at all (if I take into account $11 for parking, it's like I'm getting into the park for $13), so I figured I'd give it a go and see what DCA has to offer.
