  • "The Ride That Almost Was"

For those of you who have the new Little Mermaid 2-disc DVD, you've probably seen the featurette by now. I'm really disappointed that the ride didn't come into being because... Well, it was pretty awesome. If plans did fall through, where do you think it would've been in Disneyland today? Hypothetically speaking, if WDI decides to bring it to the park because of the great response it received, where do you think it would fit in now? Would it be a wise decision to put it in Paradise Pier to bring more guests to DCA?

It was meant for DLP. But if it did come CA then PP could possibly work. Heavy transitions would have to be used, but it could work.

That would be awesome if they did it!

I was thinking as in take out some of the parking lot. My thinking also includes that WDI would build the structure like what was on the DVD.

Hey..Just put Ariel in a pirate getup and I think you'll get the ride..It's all about pirates these days. I'm holding out for PIRATE MOUNTAIN!!!! because you can't have too many mountain attractions.

The ride was supposed to come to EuroDisneyland in 1994. They never made a profit and the plot of land in Fantasyland remains untouched. The ride was also considered for Disneyland where Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin is located. We got ToonTown instead.

I think the Little Mermaid could work very well in Paradise Pier. However, it could not be in the exact same form as it was going to appear in Euro Disneyland. It would have to be reworked so that it fits in line with the boardwalk and not the European environment it really takes place.
