Re: Tomorrow Is a Hoilday?
Really? I don't think the schools here in Vegas get it off. I don't want to go tomorrow only to find I wasn't supposed to come! lol(\_/) This is Bunny. Copy and paste Bunny into your

Re: Tomorrow Is a Hoilday?
Monday is Columbus Day, no mail, most government offices are closed, many kids have the day off (some have it as a holiday, others have it as an "in-service" day, where Teachers show up, but kids get the day off).
Disney has scheduled the day as a holiday....Check out my Theme Park Photos at http://darkbeer.smugmug.com

Re: Tomorrow Is a Hoilday?
I know that this isn't the debate thread, so I'll keep it short and sweet - Columbus Day used to be observed every year on October 12. Not sure why...is that thought to be the very day in 1492 that he accidentally bumped into...er, "discovered" America?
Anyway, that's another holiday that was made into a relatively meaningless three-day Monday thing back in the 70's...and if, as we're learning, kids these days don't know about Tom Sawyer, how many relate to good old Chris.
Reminds me of an old Stan Freberg (sp?) radio gag.
The crew of the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria approach their boss and ask for the day off.
Why, he asks.
"Columbus Day," they say.God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Re: Tomorrow Is a Hoilday?
As far as I know, government employee types are about the only ones with the day off tomorrow.
Are they the only ones Columbus discovered? Who found the rest of us?)
