We all agree that superstar limo was very unimaginative and thrown together. I did like it among a few others. If it had beem given a bit more time I believe that it could have been a great attraction. What about your opinions?

Re: Superstar Limo- Could it have been a great attration?
The only way the attraction would have worked is if it was sophisticated and satirical like Fox Television's cancelled series, "Action", with Jay Mohr, or Steve Martin's "L.A. Story".
The experience would have needed to be legitimately funny and affectionate in its irreverance towards the craziness of L.A.

With a little more detail and work on the overall ride it could have been more entertaining in my opinion.Friend walks into line of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh-"Come on, Let's go see Country Bear- .......Oh."-August 1st 2010

Re: Superstar Limo- Could it have been a great attration?
Any ride can be a great ride... if you follow one simple rule. And to be honest, Walt put it best: "Get a good idea and stay with it. Dog it, and work at it until it's done right."
Sometimes current management wants a ride now and isn't willing to wait till an idea is done, and done right. So things get rushed and budgets cut and in then end, the ride suffers, and they have to spend more money to pull the ride and put something else in. You'd think that by now they'd have realized that doing something to substandard quality actually costs them more.
Superstar Limo was fun. Could have been even better. I liked it, but there was the potential for so much more.
Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

Re: Superstar Limo- Could it have been a great attration?
Of course it could have. Set it in the 1940's-50's, everything with muted colors almost in black and white. Guests would careen through the streets of LA nearly missing cars, trolleys, and the paparazzi. They would crash through famous locations such as the Brown Derby and Mann's Chineese Theatre (almost running over someone leaving their handprints out front). You would travel through both major streets and even small alleyways in areas like Chinatown. At one point in the ride you would zoom through a movie studio where you meet some 50's era movie monsters like giant squids, godzilla tpye creatures, and aliens.
I think the ride could have been very fun, like a film noire version of Mr. Toad.Women, they make the highs higher and the lows more frequent.

It was too flashy, contemporary, "hip and edgy", and the people looked scary. They reminded me of those either Energizer or Durcell commericals back then when it aired. It had potential, they just went the wrong way with it. Not sure if there were budget cuts or whatever.

While I LOVE Monsters, Inc. The few (very few) times I was on SSL...it was (a) AIR CONDITIONED which was a big plus and (b) So wonderfully cheesy that you just had to laugh at the whole thing.
But, it did have the potential to be a really great ride...Originally posted by migoI poop with joy!

Re: Superstar Limo- Could it have been a great attration?
The original concept for Superstar limo is close to the Rocking Rollercoaster at MGM. The idea was that you were to be the next big star, you flew into LAX, but absolutely could not have your picture taken prior to your debut. So paparazzi would chase you on a high speed roller coaster through LA - where eventually, you got your photo taken, thus were returned to LAX - not a star.
That was the concept, but shortly thereafter the Princess Diana crash happened and the concept was scrapped.sigpic

SSL was the STRANGEST ride I've ever been on. I only had the chance to go on it once in May of 2001. It was closed every other time I went, and to be honest, I didn't miss it. I get to go on Monsters Inc next month, I hope it's better.

It was a crappy idea from the start and made a crappy ride in the end.
There were no characters for you to care about.
Your ride vehicle moved at the speed of a dead dog's turd rolling uphill on a cold day (not that it would have been any better if you had sped through there if Princess Di hadn't gotten killed).
There was nothing interesting about the ride ... zero.
Good riddance!
