What do you think about churros?

Hello All, this is my first try at starting a straight DL thread. Please support me by keeping this thread on track and telling me what you really think! Here it goes.

For the price, do you think churros are the correct size? If you were head of outdoor vending, what would you change? This can include the length and girth of the churro, the amount of cinna'sugar that is used as well as any additional flavors that should be offered.

Do you have any ideas on how the carts could be better themed?

    Tell me what you think!!

I wish they were bigger myself and cheaper. Plus the head of ODV doesn't get any say on the size or flavors available. That still comes down from further up.

I agree with erik13, Bigger and cheaper! Ooh, maybe more of a home made look, instead of the factory ones that everyone else sells. Kinda like the ones at the Orange County Swapmeet. Those things were huge! And really tasty also.

I think the girth needs to be bigger.

I can't get enough of them!..until its time to dig back into my wallet the price is a lil steep for one churro but it has yet to stop me from buying one.

I do wish they sold funnel cakes from the same cart...are funnel cakes even avaiable at disneyland I never see them and I could of swore they used to sell them...

Either way point is knock off a few quarters and offer some funnel cake and ill be there for lunch.

Here in Miami, there are places that make the churros on the spot. This way, the churro comes out hot and fresh. This should be done at Disneyland as well, at least in one place.

There is a place near Lisa's work that sells the Frozen Reheated Dough Sticks (aka the Tio Pepe Churro, which is the brand that Disneyland uses) for 93 cents plus tax ($1 out the door).... Costco sells them for just over a $1 at their snack stand.

But the best deal is the FRESHLY made Churros at the Orange County Marketplace (Swap Meet) in Costa Mesa (the fairgrounds parking lot).

Nothing beats a Churro right out of the deep fryer.

As for Funnel Cakes, Knott's is the place to go... Freshly made, with great toppings!!!

:lmao: Now that is good. I like churros, however I don't love them, so I rarely buy them in the park. In comparison to the other ODV foods in the park, I would say they are priced and sized about what I would expect. However with that said, for the price of ODV snack, heck yeah they should be bigger!!!!

Hey Darkbeer, are the ones at Costco the same Tio Pepe ones sold at DL? Just curious.

The churros at the Costco by us are NOT the same as Disneyland. I won't even eat them :yuck: and even the kids commented that they aren't as good as Disneyland's. But they are only a buck, so I don't feel as bad if they don't finish them, which by the way NEVER happens at Disneyland!

I really don't think churros or the ODV carts they rode in on really fit the theme of any land. The NOS fritter is a much better thematic fit.

That said, one could make a really great Disneyland churro porn site.

I think a churro stand on both sides of the park is acceptable. I think having them all over smells of a cash grab. Personally I like to have a churro once during any Disney visit (I couldn't find em at MK, I've heard they live at Epcot, though) but other than that, it's better eatin' for me.

Being that they can be found in any Costco nowadays, though, I think I'm going to give up my per-visit churro for a per-visit Dole Whip.

I understand everyone loves churros, but the real question is, are they the correct size for the money? I tend to think that anything that sells for what, $3 now should reflect the value. For that price, I think churros should be around 2 1/2 feet long. You can get two for a $1 at the Pollo Loco down the street that add up to more square inches than the ones in the park.
