  • Life Changing Experience?

So... Disney affects us all in different ways. Sometimes a visit to the park is just that, a visit to the park. While that is a special thing in and of itself, sometimes our visits to Disneyland leave an even deeper impression on us.

How has Disneyland influenced your life? How has the magic touched you and made you better? Or has it?

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

Well, I've been taking my son since he was 10 months old. He is now 2 1/2. I would say the most excellant experience, so far, was when we were waiting on Pooh Ride and then the gates opened and he knew EXACTLY what to do. He knew to wait in line, wait for the gates to open, walk through the gates, get into the hunny pot, sit down and pull the bar down. I didn't help him at all! That was a momentous moment, well for me anyway.

    Ta Da!

I had a life changing experience at Disneyland in CA on March 14th, 1994.

I walked up to a pop-corn stand and asked for a medium. The CM responded, "Medium? MEDIUM? I'll give you a medium!" He then opened the register, took out a handfull of quarters, and pelted them at me as hard as he could! One of the quarters struck me in the eye causing me to under-go medical treatment.
Following the treatment I have blurred vision in my left eye. Although this may seem unfortunate...I now have a fat bank account and free annual passes showing up in my mailbox every year.
Ah, how strange! The molecules are so active now!

I guess Walt Disney's quote by my signature says it all for me!!
"Happiness is a state of mind...." Walt Disney

Walt Disney is one of my biggest infulences becuase he started form nothing and made all his dreams come true and made Disneyland a Place which I love.
He's one of the Reasons I want to make Movies when Im older and maybe one day design a theme park to rival and hopefully my park wont become a place for investers just trying to make money.
            Happy Halloween!!!

I think another way it's affected me...is that despite people not believing in Walt Disney's idea in the beginning, he didn't get discouraged...he believed in himself!

It has influenced me in the way were i went to wdw to do the college program since i was having a hard time getting a job at the DLR and i met and made so many friends from so many different states and countries and have made contacts with managers at wdw. And because of the program i am more confident in myself and i lost alot of weight working down there as well, went from a size 42 pant to a size 38 and now down to a size 36. I because of the program, i now work at disneyland resort at dca on attractions on the sunwheel and king triton's carousel of the sea.

I knew my wife for a year before we went on our first date. This one particular Sunday we were supposed to meet a bunch of friends at the castle at 5pm. Well, we got there about 4:30 and just sat and waited. 5pm rolled around - no friends. 5:15, 5:20-5:30 - no friends. We figured they ditched us.

What it ended up being was a 'big effort' for my then friend to get to know each other - and I must tell you - she and I had a wonderful time just sitting and laughing and talking. Indeed, getting to know one another. So, when no one showed up, we just decided to spend the evening at the park together and have fun - and we did.

Many friends had been trying to 'get us together' for awhile.........but them 'not showing up' was a good thing, hindsight. I guess that was about 5 1/2 years ago......wow how time flies.

Wife and I will never forget that day when we were 'stood up' to promote our eventual 'hook up'.

For me it's the lesson that dreams really can come true.
I guess what could be called the "Official Song of Disney", "When you Wish Upon a Star" brings me to tears nearly every time I hear it.

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
                      Anything your heart desires
                      Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
                      No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
                      As dreamers do

Dreams and magic are real... they are in each of us and like Walt who left a little of the magic within himself for the rest of the world to enjoy, so can we.

So I was getting my teaching credential and there was this great guy in my class and we totally bonded over our love of Disney!! After we got our credentials he moved to NY with his boyfriend but now they're back and we're planning a Disney trip! Without Disney we wouldn't have realized how alike we are!

                          My best score ever!

In a strange way, Disneyland took part in making me realize if a certain person was a real friend.

For me, it has been a strange experience. I guess I'm what you'd call a Born Again Disneylander.

Although I had been to the park as a child back in 1987, the 18-year gap between visits made it all feel like going for the first time (again). While I have always been a Disney fan in that time, it felt like 'coming home' and I instantly felt more comfortable there than I had ever felt anywhere else. Perhaps that is not the best explanation for it, and while it was all Disney marketing, I certainly was having my 'Happiest Homecoming on Earth'.

Since leaving, I have yearned to go back. We decided to go to Hong Kong this year, and that was a fun trip too, but I'm really anxious to go back to the 'original'. We are currently making definite plans to go back in just over a year or so, as soon as work and money allows us to do so. It is hard to explain exactly why I have such a yearning to return to the park, especially given that I will also be visiting Disney World on the next trip, but I guess it comes down to having seen a 'better way of doing things' and nothing else quite being the same on the "outside".

I really can't explain the effect that Disneyland has over me. As soon as I step foot in (hell, even the parking lot or the hotel I'm staying at), the outside world just doesn't matter anymore. Problems and worries just disappear. It's okay to walk around with a huge smile on my face, pose with a princess, ride with a pirate or travel through space...it's a great alternative to the dull farmin' land I see everyday
