  • UNbirthday sticker?

So, if I went into town hall and asked for an UNbirthday sticker, would they commit me to a day of never-ending spins at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party?? I am thinking of trying it on our visit next week to see what they would say.

Do U think this is a good idea, or a dumb idea? (I won't be offended if you say dumb.)

Sounds fun actually! They may actually have such a pin. It's worth a try. Come back and tell us what happened!

Definitely let us know what they say as I've always wanted an Unbirthday SOMETHING.

As a matter of fact, today is MY unbirthday! Give me a sticker.

          Re: UNbirthday sticker?

Makes me think of The Smiths song "Unhappy Birthday" when you mention that.

"I've come to wish you an unhappy birthday
          'Cause you're evil
          And you lie
          And if you should die
          I may feel slightly sad
          (But I won't cry)"

Not in the literal sense, of course.

          Bye.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do have something for that. It had to have come up sometime.

Cool idea, too. Just one that shouldn't be advertised, because it could get pretty out of hand. It's mine too!

              Re: UNbirthday sticker?

A couple CM's playfully hassle people at the teacups who have birthday stickers/buttons, so I imagine that'd get a fun response.

... Not last I checked. However, if the CM has any imagination whatsoever, they will at least take a birthday sticker and write "un" in before the "Birthday"

                        Re: UNbirthday sticker?

Hehe... it should be a sticker that is dispensed for everyone entering the park if it's not their birthday. But I can see it as a logistical nightmare for the clean-up crew when they find all the litter and misplaced stickers everywhere.

Sorry to rain on the parade. It was a good idea momentarily.

                          Re: UNbirthday sticker?

So we went ahead and asked about an UNbirthday pin for the 11 year old in our party...the CM was very nice and did write and "UN" on the button and ????s on the age section. They had run out of "Happy Birthday" pins though...they gave her a "Feliz Cumpleanos" one instead, which made it even MORE wacky and mad-tea-partyish!

Later in the day we were watching the band in NOS and they picked our UNbirthday girl out of the crowd to seranade her with Happy Birthday...guess the UN wasn't big enough

It made for a fun memory!!

Well, I guess we do sort of have Unbirthday stickers/pins. They say "Honorary Citizen."

                                Re: UNbirthday sticker?

It would be nice if un-birthday stickers were specifically available at Alice in Wonderland, The Mad Hatter, and The Mad Tea Party.

I was at Macaroni Grill a few days ago, and the singing waiter was becoming annoying very quickly to everyone in the room because he had been singing "Happy Birthday to You" over and over again a dozen times just in the space of an hour or so. Disneyland is becoming something similar, unfortunately.

My train conductor alter ego would never go out of the way to publicly recognize a birthday unless he was specifically requested to do so. And, on those rare occasions when he was, he'd always be very respectful to and inclusive of the disinterested guests.

One time, at Toontown Depot, a delay provided the opportunity for a guest to make such a request, so the train conductor wished, on behalf of the Disneyland Railroad, a happy birthday to the passenger in question, as well as to all the other passengers who were celebrating birthdays that day. But, he also wished, on behalf of the Mad Hatter and the March Hare (since the train was in Fantasyland, after all), a very, merry un-birthday to everyone else.

In a similar way, on occasions such as the Fourth of July for example, the conductor would, at Main Street Station, wish the American guests, specifically, a happy Independence Day in order to be respectful to the passengers from other countries who might not be celebrating that particular holiday.

Inclusiveness and a respect for all the guests is vital. And, I hope that Disneyland, in the future, exercises more care to avoid the Macaroni Grill-effect.

You can honestly get the stickers and buttons pretty much anywhere. I know that the Opera House, the Jungle Cruise, and the Tiki Room are all decently stocked with the full assortment of buttons, and when we had just stickers, lots of CMs would keep a supply of them in their pocket.
