  • Disney's PhotoPass at the DLR!

Starting today (October 17, 2006) Disney's Photopass began testing at Disney's California Adventure. The program is new to the DLR but has been used successfully for years at WDW. The program makes taking official photographs around the Resort easier as a Photopass card is given to guests when they take their first picture. Later, when they take another official picture, the photographer scans the card and the images are stored to the unique ID on the card. The images can be purchased at the park as always but will also be available online for purchase, as well. Disney's Photopass will launch Resort-wide, as will the Photopass website for the DLR, on November 7, 2006.

Another advantage of this system is that photographs taken at Disneyland can now be viewed at Disney's California Adventure and vice versa. The interface is much nicer and allows for several new options including ordering a Photo CD with all the pictures from your trip. As a reminder, Photopass is currently only available at DCA and several features (including the photo CDs) will not be available until November 7, 2006.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive.
If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."
    Disneyland. My Anti-drug.

With all this talk of "off the shelf" and "on the back-burner" it seems the only thing that DCA is really missing is the kitchen sink!

I love photopass Im glad DLR is getting it so much better than standing in line on Main Street for a picture when it can be viewed and mailed to your door.

PhotoPass at WDW was free so it better be free over here

Cool! So, you get the card & can take all the pictures you want without being charged? What are the options when purchasing the photos? Sorry for all the questions...it's new to me.

Re: Disney's PhotoPass at the DLR!

^correct. You get a card like the picture dlfreak has shown, and after your photo is taken say in front of SBC the CM will give you a card and that card is good for as many photos as you want I believe and then just keep the one card and then hop over to DCA and get a picture in front of TOT give the CM the card and its on the same card. Then if you wish you may buy the photo at the park or wait till you get home and register online at the photopass site.

As for buying the photos you have 30 days after you register online to view and/or buy the photos you can get wallets, 4x6's, 5x7's your choice and you can even add boarders with the FAB 5 or customize the look with different park logos or re-size, crop and other little thing

I believe prices are the same in park as well as online but sometimes online will offer discounts when we ordered our WDW photos we bought 100 bucks worth of them but they had a deal of 30% off any purchase of $90.00 or more so it came out to like 80 bucks for all of the pics plus shipping and handleing I think.

Course this is all based on WDW but Im sure DLR's will work similar to it.Hope that helps!

It would be nice if they could incorporate ride photos into the whole package, or is this already an option?

For the WDW one ... do you have to get a new card every day or can you use the same one for your entire trip and just look at your photo's when you get home???

they are viewable up to 30 days after your vacation on the server (aka, after the alst photo was added.. 30 days after that i think, have not used it in a while)...

Thanks Figment ... Not sure if we want to have one for each day or just one for the entire trip. Might be easier to organize them if we did one for each day though.

we got to use the Photopass in WDW last year and found it very good. Having a 3 year old with us we were able to get a good few pics of the family in front of the castle on several days before picking the best one to get printed up big and framed.

Of course, those that don't want to buy all the pics as we ended up with loads may want to make good use of the print screen button and a cropping tool.
