It seems close to DLR, do you guys have any thoughts on it? Things to do or see? My brother has never been to CA, and has never been to the beach, so I thought we would check it out.

Thanks!!
Lots of shops. Places to eat...I love going there.

All I have to say is that whenever I go to a beach, I find myself using Huntington as the standard. Maybe that's why the beaches in virgnia were SO underwhelming.
So in other words, Huntington is a fantastic beach.
If you want to see a beautiful beach go to Aliso creek beach just south of newport, the best beach by far, if you go make sure to walk around the left side it is awesome.
Most consistent Waves in South California.
Hot babes!
2 good restaurants --right at the pier and movie theater at the Beach---
Lots of shops
Huntington is great---only problem is sometimes parking --unless you want to feed the meters
A love of Disney that sometimes borders on the edge of crazy ---but I'm okay with that
Huntington Beach is very fun . My relatives live there and every time that we make a trip down to California, we go there to rest and then go to DLR, so it is sort of lucky for us. (That's what we're doing this weekend ). Anyways, the beaches are nice, very pretty, and they have nice sea side homes there too
For purely touristy old times sake, though, I really love Newport Beach and the bay/Balboa Island area.
Balboa Island is my favorite espically getting a frozen banana and taking the ferry over to see the ferris wheel even though if Im at DCA I can just ride that with my admission already paid lol

Newport is fun, I like it better than H.B. H.B. is dirty IMO, but it is fun, and if you dont feel like driving all over its fine, but there are lots of fun beaches. heck why dont you check out mission on your way back? Thats a fun beach!

Bolsa Chica/Huntington State Beach: Huge expanses of sand, not a whole lot else to do.
Huntington (Main): Touristy around the pier, but fun. Good waves, party atmosphere (can be a little intimidating)
Newport (Balboa): Parking can be a *#[email protected]&, but great beaches. Good drinks & food by the piers. Awesome people-watching. (Say hi to the Bird Man for me!)
Corona Del Mar: Kinda hard for tourists to get to, but a lot of fun. Tidepools, shelves, even caves in the rocks along shore.
Laguna Beach: Used to be art colony, now enclave for the super-rich. Beach is a nice combination of sand and rocky cliffs, making for some of the most scenic coastline in the entire state. The action is at Main Beach.
South Laguna/Aliso Beach: yuck. A heavily polluted stream runs right across the sand here. Small beach, they tore down the pier years ago after a bad storm, leaving a filthy bathroom and very questionable snack bar.
We used to go to huntington all thr time. i plan to go again soon, because they have a dog beach...(uummm for my dog...not me...LOL)....If you got to santat monica I wouldn't go in the water. it's bery polluted and the two times i did I git very sick.
From North to South:

And that's as far south as I ever go.
Man your a little hard on Aliso, that is one beautiful beach, especialy if you go out to the left, its like Maui over there, And its not heavily polluted at all, unless there is a huge storm.
