    Gummi Bears at Disneyland

I found a neat website that had some vintage photos of the Gummi Bear themed stuff that took over the Motorboat Cruise ride and the website has links to the pics:

Then I also found this on the same website and it has pictures of the Disney Afternoon characters roaming around Disneyland:

I remember going on those boats. Once.

I always wished they would make a Gummi Bear quick car ride. And I wish I took more photos back then.

Wow, rare pictures of the boats too. Thanks for the links DW. Used to love watching the Gummi Bears as a kid.

I remember all of these cartoons, but never got to see all the charcters at the park. Looked pretty cool and I've never run into characters at Autopia before. thanks for the great find!

I only saw the Rescue Rangers, Gadget, Baloo, Darkwing, Launchpad, & Scrooge during my visits to Disneyland.

I saw all of them. I remember they used to have a charecter dinner at the Disneyland Hotel that featured them. Those were the good old days...before the dark times...before Eisner went mad with power.

I loved the Disney Afternoon at Disneyland. They had a bunch of Super Nintendos or Sega Genisis systems set up in a tent so that you could play the video games based on the Disney Afternoon. There was a pretty cool stage show too. That was very fun. I can't remember how old I was. Probably 11 or 12.

I remember going to the park during the Afternoon Avenue. I only got to see the Motorboat Cruise Thru Gummi Glen once. It was after the Gummi Bears moved in that the attraction actually had a long line. I remember the Rescue Ranger Raceway. The cloverleaf underpass where the cars return to the loading area had cut outs of reporters and their flash bulbs would go off as your car passed through.

I also saw the show. Don Carnage and Fat Cat stole an experimental jet. The government called on Baloo, Launchpad, and Chip & Dale to recover it. It was a little cheesy and had the same human actors in every human role, but it was still a fun show. Louie also appears once everyone ends up at his island club. The show's main theme song is the Tale Spin song "Friends for Life".

I used to have the Disney Afternoon soundtrack a long time ago. I probably have it buried under stuff. It had full versions of the DA Theme, Gummi Bears Theme, Ducktales Theme, Chip&Dale's Rescue Ranger Theme, and Tale Spin Theme. It also included other insert songs (like Baloo and Louie's duet Friends for Life). It even had a full, professional (not done by Sunni Gummi's VA) version of Gummiberry Juice.

I don't know if anybody's noticed, but Disney has been releasing old DA cartoons on DVD. Ducktales, Chip&Dale, Tale Spin, Darkwing Duck, and Gargoyles have all gotten season box set releases while Goof Troop and Quack Pack have gotten volume releases. I don't know if Gummi Bears will be released or not.

The empty lake area behind Matterhorn and next to the autopia tracks (right by the now awful smoking section -- it just pure reeks) is where the Motor Boat Cruise used to be.

I remember when the Gummi Bears overtook the MotorBoat Cruise. That made me so mad! Gummi Bears are a 'food' really. It seems very "NON-DISNEY" if you asked me. I just wish they'd re-establish the MotorBoat cruise...it was always fun and relaxing - wasn't a thrill ride - just a chill ride.

No no no... i guess I should be more clear when I say behind the matterhorn and next to the autopia. It's where the now Fantasia Freeze cart and Hot Dog wagon cart is. There's an empty lake right there near Small World. That's where the motorboat used to be.
