Letter to Eisner re: 50th video

I went to Disneyland.com and clicked where it says; "Take a sneak peek at what's in store for Disney's biggest bash ever!" to see the Quicktime video "50th Sizzle".

They've used most of Walt's opening day speech in the 60 second video. Toward the end, I feel my skin crawl as I hear something I've never heard Walt Disney say: "...Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals and the Dreams that have created America

They might of just edited it for time, but I don't know. Maybe you will get a letter back explaining

While it's a moving speech, I think the context is lost in relation to the ad. What are the hard facts he's talking about, and how are they present in Disneyland? You don't know, it's not really given in the ad.

While you have a right to your opinion and I agree with you that Walt best knew what Walt was talking about, I think it's a little much to challenge someone's patriotism against them just for clipping out words in a speech. Then again, that passage was probably chosen for the ad to be just as exploitive, so I'll call it a draw.

You can go to this link and see and hear the entire opening day speech. They did seem to edit out a few words, maybe to fit the running time for the commercial, but I also agree this speech should never be altered in any way. It's a part of our lives now and every Disneyland Fan knows this speech by heart. Or they should.

Don't take this the wrong way. I mean It plays every time I log on to my computer, and I have to agree that It should never be dissrepected in any way.
BUT
For the most part there are no "hard facts" in Disneyland. They have all been removed.

While its a move that I would never make, Im am not supprized

Of course there are people who care much more about the subject of this article than me, but I am just making a point of how good that commercial is. It made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, it even made Paradise Pier look good! It is a fine piece of filmography, and to top it off, Uncle Walt says a few words at the start and at the end. I'm not sure many people would notice three or four words missing - they weren't even particuarly important words, well to Disneyland and to the 50th Celebration anyway.

Also, I don't think the blame can be placed entirely on Eisner. It seems that every single thing wrong with Disney is directly Eisner's fault. (By the way I'm not saying that the author of the article is doing this, it's just that he says this article is Eisner's fault and while we were on the subject....well).
