  • Matterhorn?

When does it open back up? And why has it been down so long anyways? My mom asked me when I took her to the park on Saturday and I had no answers I was just as clueless. It's been closed for almost forever, yeah, two months is forever!

Matterhorn is scheduled for refurb until December 15th.

Being the world's first tubular steel coaster and weighing in at 47 years old, means it requires alot of maintenance to be kept in top shape.

It looks like they were replacing part of the track if not all of it.

It was originally supposed to be back up for Thanksgiving. Then it was extended a few weeks. Think there's a chance it might open ahead of schedule? December 2nd is my daughter's birthday and that's her favorite ride. She was so disappointed when they extended the refurb. My daughter herself was due on December 16th but came on the 2nd, so I have my fingers crossed.

In general, attractions do not come out of refurb early, so it is extremely doubtful. Sorry. Disney wants there E-Ticket up and running just as much as all of its guests, but these things can't really be rushed.

                Agreed.

                Hmm......

I want the ride open NOW and having it break down or hurt someone right away just because it's not operating.

                VS.

Having to pick a traditionally slow period in the park yearly calendar to keep a safe and well maintained attraction in existence so everyone can enjoy it in one piece before the busiest time of the year.

I think the answer is obvious.......and I don't mean the first one.

                Bye.

On a side note... see Cousin Orvilles thread on the new cars with lap bars that are apparently going into the Matterhorn once the rehab is finished!!

That's NEXT WINTER's rehab, not this one.

OK, so new cars are coming in. What else are they adding?
