  • How would YOU decorate Adventureland for Christmas?

Adventureland is my favorite area of the park, and it always makes me sad that the land doesn't get 'dressed' up for the holidays. Does anyone know why this is?

Maybe we can come up with some ideas to help the imagineers out. I always thought it would be cool to give the land a christmas 'palm' tree. It could be placed in one of the planters that currently reside on the walkways. And each year it could be brought out and decorated with fun lights, tiki bird ornaments, ancient artifacts, etc.

What about you, do you have any fun ideas for Adventureland?

I'd randomly start hanging ornaments on skippers to make them more festive.

Their hats are a good place to start.

While we're at it, let's invent some for Tomorrowland too.

Hmmm I would put garland's on the buildings with matching items to each store front much like NOS and ToonTowns garlands match there fronts. Like JC would have garlands with some animals that you find of the fruit stand would have garlands with fruits, oh and since we cant forget about Bangel BBQ skewers all over the garland kidding on that one.

I like the idea of a palm tree decorated.

Also I think one year they should also decorate Fantasyland.

Lights on the JC boats. Maybe a makeshift christmas scene for the little camp in the outside Indy line. Even better maybe incorporate some aspects of how cultures in tropical areas celebrate christmas.

I'd think that they could decorate at least the Tiki Room in Mele Kalikimak style, and perhaps the Tarzan Tree-house as well (as though Jane, Tarzan, and the monkeys made all the ornaments from things they found in the jungle)

Since I'm a big fan of the decarations (and not really the holiday) maybe they could put the decorated palm tree in (that'd be cool) and make the whole area just a tad holidayish with ornaments and lights... perhaps they should even put in some decarations inside of the tiki-room ontop of the birds and totem gods up above.
Oh what the future will hold...

Does it have to be Christmas? What about Kwanzaa? Might bring a different mood into that part of the park.

As for Tomorrowland, show how Christmas has moved forward. What is it they called it on the OC? Christmaskah? Something to that effect.

^LOL!! Tomorrowland could be Festivus!

I think Adventureland should go either very tiki-hawaiian-Christmas-in-July or very natural with ornaments made of coconuts, etc. I think either extreme would be good.

It would be neat if they could add a few decorations, just enough to give the area a bit of holiday spirit, but not go too overboard. It would be ridiculous if they put up anywhere near the amount of decorations that go up in NOS, but a few lights and other decorations made from natural materials would be nice.

Re: How would YOU decorate Adventureland for Christmas?

There was some talk of a Christmas overlay for the Tiki Room, but the idea was scrapped.

I don't think decorating for Christmas in Adventureland would really work. Let's see, how do I put this. Adventureland is set in the 1930s, in the "uncivilized" part of the world. To Western sensibility of that time, "uncivilized" meant "not Christian." So finding thematically appropriate ways to decorate for what is arguably the most important Christian festival is... problematic.

Though decorating the skippers would be amusing. The new Jungle costume already looks like a Christmas tree in February, stringing on a garland or a couple of ornaments couldn't hurt.

There could be a tree decorated with lit-up coconuts and a pineapple for the top.

                            Wouldn't that be in Hawaiianland?

I think color would be improtant. I would use lot of anthuriums.

I think it would make the area festive.
