  • Haunted Mansion Holiday Through the Years

I would be interested in reading a sort of chronology on the development of the Haunted Mansion Holiday.
For instance, what versions of the music are in use from which version of the soundtrack?
    What have they added?

2001: Haunted Mansion Holiday opens. Original soundtrack debuts
    2002: ?
2003: Danny Elfman music replaces the original soundtrack. Oogie Boogie sequence debuts.
    2004: ?
    2005: ?
2006: Original Soundtrack returns to Stretching Room/Graveyard

etc. Can anyone fill in more?

I actually have some modifications to that list for ya.

2001: HMH opens. Original soundtrack debuts.
2002: Scarols debut outside in the attraction's queue.
2003: New soundtrack debuts. Arranged by John Debney & overseen by Danny Elfman. However, the Stretching Room soundtrack is quickly changed back to the old version due to popular demand. Oogie also debuts in the attraction this year.
    2004: Minor updates.
    2005: Minor updates.
2006: Minor updates. Also, the Scarols have disappeared from the queue.

The original soundtrack was never restored in the Graveyard. While the vocals have always remained the same, the original arrangement for the Graveyard's soundtrack hasn't returned.
    "Keep Moving Forward."

I'm pretty sure the new soundtrack debuted in 2002 rather than 2003.

Yeah, what is attributed to their sudden departure? Even my friends noticed, and commented that the music box track (borrowed from Paris's Phantom Manor, I might add) gets annoying after winding all the way around the queue.

2003 was the year you could try to hunt down all 20 'Oogies.' There was a portrait in the stretch room of him, "Oogie" spelled out in bones along the stairs under the endless hallway with Zero, as well as an Oogie carnivorous plant, and an Oogie centerpiece on the Ballroom table. A few of the Oogies remained through the years after 2003 to the present, including the topiary outside, the cymbol-crashing present in the attic, and the Oogie roulette finale of course.

I believe it was the first year, and maybe the second, that they "opened" a different present each day in the loading area. That was fun to see.

                    I miss the Scarols.

This is the first year I've seen all the regular stuff from the HM attic hanging around behind the overlay. Looks a little cheap.

I am also curious about the Scarols? Would love to see pictures. From reading this thread are you serious there is no annual HMH tshirts for sale? This I can't believe....for shame

I think the scarols were "nightmarish" versions of Christmas carols. I have only been to HMH once in 2005 so they weren't there but I heard some on a Disney music site.

I actually thouht that the Scarols were creative and fun, I notitced that they were gone but I hope that they're not gone for long! Maybe some of us should go down to City Hall and ask "What's up with the crappy theme in HM right now and what happend to the Scarols?!"

As to the festivities and the overlay... it's a little dissapointing this year. The quality is lacking this year and it hurts to see something that was so much fun turn into another quality control nightmare. The original HM may be getting some upgrades, but not the overlay...
Oh what the future will hold...

I love the music in the queue right now, and wouldn't want to have to stand through the cheesy scarols that weren't very funny and most people didn't get. It just didn't seem right with the rest of the Mansion's theme.
