  • How about some new Haunted Mansion Themeing?

What do you think about having music play during the regular season for Haunted Mansion? I am also going to take this opportunity to state that wouldn't it be a cool idea if we had fog pop up around the Mansion at night? We could retheme the line with a few special effects during the day and night that makes waiting in line a little enjoyable. Like the WDW Leota grave or having animaton in the pet graveyard?

Er...I'm a little confused with what you are trying to express. What music do you mean? The themes used inside the attraction to be mimiced outside as well?

To be honest I like the mansion the way it is on the outside. Walt was very specific in expressing that he wanted everything on the outside facade to look visually clean, nice and pleasing...and the ghosts could take care of everything their way on the inside.

But just because everything has to look beautiful doesn't mean we can have bits of fun animation outside. As for music, I don't have anything in mind, but if we had something like the scarols, it would be a fun pastime.

Although, fog randomly pouring through the outdoor queue and out onto the sidewalks would be awesome.

The only issues I see coming up about the man-made fog is that once it gets to a certain point it's bound to start creeping on the queue's floor. Thus, making it hard to see where guests are walking.

Can you imagine the law suits Disney would get if a person were to trip or fall into one of the poles? Yes, I know it sounds lame, but it's how people are.

So, with that said I'd have to say no. It's a good idea, but it just wouldn't work with the way humans are nowadays.

The idea of eerie fog hovering over the grass, pet cemetery, and on the hill (berm) on the side of the back queue would be amazing.

And I do like the idea of added music to the Mansion. Taking a cue from Disneyland Paris and added orchestral music throughout the Mansion's haunted halls would be amazing. The only problem is that I feel orchestral music would only fit if the Mansion had a cohesive storyline, and it doesn't. So count that out.

It only works during Haunted Mansion Holiday because during the holidays it takes on the story of Jack Skellington redecorating for the holidays.

So altohugh music would be great, I don't see it working with the normal Mansion.

            But bring on the fog!

Yay for fog! That would be awesome. Wouldn't have to be a lot -- even just little wisps of it here and there would look great.

I think fog would be cool. But I agree with pineapplewhipaddict, Walt really wanted it to look perfectly normal and clean. It gives a sense of mystery and awe because something so clean and neat could be so "bad" on the inside

What if they made it less haunted, and filled it with bunnies and various shiny things.

It could be called The Happy Mansion.

And pirates. It has to have pirates.

I don't think the Mansion was necessarily supposed to be "normal," just clean. In all fairness, the facade is imposing and disquieting, not to mention theres a pet cemetary outside AND a hearse. Eerie mist/fog in the evenings would only add to the foreboding nature of the Mansion's facade and grounds.

I seem to remember a better graveyard about 15 years ago. One with much more apparant gravestones and such. It was removed to have that giant cube of switchbacks behind the wall. Am I remembering this correctly?

I think it would be cool if they fixed up the afore mentioned area. I love the que until you get past the pet cemetary. Then it is just kind of plain and crowded. Maybe with the Fastpass machines no longer being used, they could extend the que a tad and make it more immersive. Through a green house, or a garden/cemetary instead of a hillside.
Women, they make the highs higher and the lows more frequent.

The whole thing really past the pet cemetary lacks the whole at least themed quality. Honestly, I don't believe there was an empty patch of concrete past that wall!
