We just got back Sunday, and it was an incredible week at Disneyland.
Mothers day was our first day, and I got a lovely carnation upon entering the park.
The special highlights for me were the following.
The fireworks. So special and outstanding, we sat for nearly three hours to save our place in the hub 4 out of six nights. I am going to write and let them know how great and special it is.
The parade. Wonderful floats, a real Disney experience. Please stop the lags though, just let the parade go down the street. it is beautiful though.
The characters. They were everywhere, all the time. It was so good to see so many of them. The Evil Queen from Snow White is excellent! As are all of them. Mickey gave me a huge hug when I showed him my MM tatoo!
The over-all look of the park. Although much is still left to be done, so much has been done, and it was so good to see it. The Mark Twain is beautifully restored, the last time I was on it, it was heartbreaking. All the little touches for the 50th are wonderful. Everything is bright and shiny again.
The attractions and their makeovers. Pirates was like a brand new attraction! Outstanding. Fantasmic was great, I love the new Haunted Mansion stuff.
The collages are really special too. Ours were located on the giant Steamboat Willie one on Main Street. It is really neat how they locate them for you.
The Cast members. I only ran across one in six days that wasn't really exceptional. They were friendly, helpful, Disney like I remembered it.
Every night they would gather over the exit on the train tracks and say goodnight.
The excitement in the park. I don't know if this is only because it was just after May 5, but there was an excitement in the air everywhere in the park like I haven't seen in years. All the CM's are even excited to talk with you, and discuss the great things going on. Every night while seated on the curb of the hub(just in front of the Partners statue), for the fireworks, everyone from security, to street sweepers, would come around to let us know the parade would not go by us. There are actually enough cm's to help out the crowds from Fantasmic, and the Main Street activity. This is something that was so bad in the 90's, that it was dangerous at times.
We had a wonderful time, and can't wait to return.
We did decide that instead of July 18-22, we are just going to go back next May same time. After thinking about the crowds and the heat, we decided to change our plans.
The Tropicana is a wonderful place to stay. it's clean, has a nice pool and hot tub, a great little grocery store, and a little cafe where I got my latte every morning.
I hope you all get to experience this celebration. It will remain with me for a long time. I love, love, love, my Disneyland.
