  • Best 'Live' Disneyland music

Okay music lovers... What's the best live music in the park? It can be a soloist (Main Street's best ragtime pianist Rod Miller for example), the guys on the raft before Fantasmic, whatever. Also, if you have a great memory or story to share about listening/watching/playing music in the park, chime in!!

I've always loved instrumental piano, especially ragtime, since watching The Sting with my dad growing up, so I have to say Rod Miller. There was a good a capella group over by ROA and NOS on the 4th that was good too though, their name escapes me at the moment.

Actually the best "live" Music I heard in Disneyland was back in the 80's. I saw Cheap Trick playing. It was so awesome.
On another note...One time my wife and I were in Tomorrowland and the cover band playing on the Club Buzz stage were on and they were singing "Too Fly for a White Guy" by the Offspring. I looked at my wife and said "No Way!!!" I'm a huge Offspring fan and that song absolutely shouldn't be played at Disneyland. Especially singing the line "At least you can go out and get laid". They didn't change it. Sure the song was a hit but to sing it in front of kids??!! They actually did a decent job of it.

One time my sister and her 3 friends (all of whom are singers) were in NOS listening to a live group. I guess they started singing along or something, becuase soon the group invited them to come up with them and sing. So they did, for quite a while. For the rest of the day, a lot of people came up to them, asking if they were "those girls who sang." It was really cool!

I remember being quite fond of the fiddle group Barrage when they played at Club Buzz a few years ago. As for Disneyland regulars, nothing beats the Disneyland Band!

In my opinion, the best live music in DL is the great Rod Miller, followed by Billy Hill and the Hillbillies.

              DL Band Conductor

The DL Band has had the same conductor for quite a few years. Anyone know his name off hand? Anyway, he's a fabulous guy and is a good sport. I'm a former HS Band director, and the conductor always lets my son (9 years old) kick off a tune. If you're looking for a touch of the Disney magic, there it is.

Can you leave a Billy Hill concert and NOT have your smile muscles hurting?

I'm a big fan of the Brass Bayou Band and the River Rascals

EDIT: I forgot about the jazz trio in the streets of New Orleans. Not sure of what their name is but its a stand up bass, trumpet and a clarinet<I think

BBB playing in NOS and the River Rascals before Fantasmic, right?

At one point, wasn't there a jazz group that played and threw beads off the NOS balcony? Do they still do that?

                            1. I love Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. They are funny and they do one of the only good Beatles covers I've ever heard.

                            2. I actually saw the Fireman Sax quartet out a couple of weeks ago and was excited beyond words.

                            3. At Christmas time, I love the Dickensian Carolers

                            4. I have been known to go to Disneyland just to see the 80z All Stars when they are playing at "Club Buzz." (When the biggest Buzz Lightyear fan in the world thinks it should change to Tomorrowland Terrace, ya need to do sumpin')

Doc Anello's big band in Plaza Gardens.

We liked them so much, we had them play at our wedding.
