  • Where does all the water go?

Reading a thread about the Sub Lagoon getting refilled and emptied got me thinkin. Where does all that water go? Is it sent to the storm drains or is it stored somewhere? Think about all of the other attractions that have drained for various refurbs.: TSI, Jungle Cruise, Sub Lagoon, POTC, IASWH (?)

If it is just put in the storm drains, isn't that a bit wasteful and pricey?

    Does anybody know for sure?

The Submarine Lagoon drains to discharge outfall 3a adjacent to Harbor blvd. near the lagoon filtration plant.

That is straight to the storm drains.

Disney's water drainage report can be found here:

It's only pricey if you can't pay the water bill.

And wasteful? It's not like they're filling it and draining it all out every two weeks (the report linked above states the Sub Lagoon is drained only about every 10 years)...Think of it as "recycling" it back into the ocean.

Orange County gets its water from a combination of sources, mainly ground water and the Colorado River. I think some may also come from Northern California although I think most of that water is allocated to LA.

My guess is that the water that is drained from Disneyland winds up in the ocean. In this case the water really isn't being recycled as this area of California does not get its drinking water from rain water, but rather from the sources listed above.

That being stated there are a couple more options that could be happening within the next few years to get more drinking water available. One is desalinating the ocean and the other is recycling the sewer water (this is actually likely to happen soon from what I have heard).

The Orange County water table only has so much water in it. Even if the water is coming from the Colorado River, which I am a bit dubious of, water is at a premium here in SoCal. We could easily have another drought year this year (We're already about 3 inches behind and it's already basically January), and with the amount of new homes with swimming pools going up in every possible square inch of Orange County hillsides, Disney would do well to recycle this water. One has to wonder why Disney doesn't get together with Orange County to develop a joint water recycling plant. Everything that is overspill from the rivers and the lagoon could be easily treated and used for landscaping at the very least. At present, to be sending hundreds of thousands of gallons down to the ocean every few weeks is indeed wasteful.

            I don't get it.

^^ OMG I have a friend that filled up an arrowhead water bottle with water from Pirates and sold it on ebay as "authentic pirates of the caribbean water". Disney is missing out on MILLIONS of dollars from moldy water.

They use all the Arrowhead water they have left over from selling the Ducks and the Arrowhead Pond which is now the Honda Center!

Actually there's TONS of Arrowhead machines in the parking lot of the Honda Center if anyone wants one!
Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it the four beers you had at DCA, hmmm?
