  • Why does the matterhorn look so snow-less?

I just got back from DL about a week ago and I must say....Matterhorn has like no snow. It's probably been this way forever, but I was staring at it and thought..."Wow, there is like no snow....It's like totally bare, especially compared to the real thing." Why is the matterhorn so freakin' bare? I mean, when I was looking at it there were very few patches of snow and it just seems like a big rock with a tiny bit of snow. IMHO, there should be a LOT of fake snow on it since the real thing has lots of snow...at least more than it has now.

I think the recent rains have washed away the bird poo.

When the Matterhorn was first built it had LOTS of snow on the top. But see since then it has been slowly sinking and has sped up recently with the lagoon being empty for so long. A lot of snow "melted" due to being at a lower elevation because of the sinkage.

They've added more and more "snow" over the years. What's changed is that the colors of the rock of the mountain itself is no longer as dark as it once was, which both makes it look more believable and also makes the whole thing look a little more washed out.

We had a really hot summer and a less than wet winter. Thusly, no snow.

Some of those climbers that climb it everyonce in awhile should pack some white spray paint for some touch-ups.. At least then you hit two birds with one stone... or in this case: snow ball!

The refrigeration unit housed inside the mountain must be out again.

Southern California's snow just ain't what it used to be.

They used it all up on Main Street presumably.

So on a serious note.....Anyone know why they haven't added any fake snow? Because it does look rather bare.
