  • Unique DL Artifacts on eBay

I typically don't do these types of threads, but when I saw some of these I just had to share.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/1956-DISNEYLAND-...QQcmdZViewItem

This postcard is just too awesome. According to The Nickel Tour, this postcard was part of a set of five cards sold at Disneyland in 1956. They were the only black and white cards ever issued in the history of the Park - and are probably the rarest and hardest to find of all!

    http://cgi.ebay.com/DISNEYLAND-TRASH...QQcmdZViewItem

Now how cool is this?? Bid on your very own Frontierland trash can (although it looks very Adventureland-ish to me). First bid only $2,000!

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Antique-Pressed-...QQcmdZViewItem

Interesting find. The caption says this ceiling lamp used to hang in an antique shop that used to be in the French Quarter.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/DISNEYLAND-50th-...QQcmdZViewItem

Ok, not exactly a rare find, but I want that jacket.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/STROMBECKER-DISN...QQcmdZViewItem

I love looking at those toys from the 50's. No doubt this model of the Moonliner once sat with the Keppy Kap under the fiberglass awnings of 1955 Tomorrowland's Hobbyland.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Disneyland-PIRAT...QQcmdZViewItem

Ok, this one is really, really amazing. You seriously need to take a look at this one.

Here's another neat little find: 3 issues of the WD Eye, an Imagineering in-house publication! Articles include interviews with John Hench, cartoons, lots of photos of then current Imagineering projects around the globe, Spotlights and articles on many Imagineers.

And if you're interested in exclusive Imagineering items, there's a men's watch, a desk clock, and a pin bag, found in the three respective links below:

I'm not a huge fan of pins, but just look at these! I was a fan of the 50th crowns, and I absolutely adore these two Imagineering-exclusive pins.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-DISNEY-DISNE...QQcmdZViewItem

Holy crap, this just gets better and better! Here's a full-size Mansion wall replica plaque. Weighs 9 pounds!! Comes with a small plaque that can be personalized!

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Disneyland-Pirat...ayphotohosting

At just $30+s&h, this 11"x17" Pirates & Mansion signed print is a remarkable value! Signed by Xavier "X" Atencio, the man who wrote both of the memorable songs, "Yo Ho" and "Grim Grinning Ghosts."

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Disneyland-Tiki-...QQcmdZViewItem

Here's another signed print; a 8 1/2"x11" concept art of the Tiki Gods, signed by its creator, Rolly Crump.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/DISNEYLAND-SUBMA...QQcmdZViewItem

But this is my favorite signed print of all: the Submarine Voyage, signed by Disney Legend Bob Gurr.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Disney-Club-33-M...QQcmdZViewItem

Have you got your pair of Club 33 ears yet?? :ap:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/1955-LITTLE-MAN-...QQcmdZViewItem

Do you know the story of The Little Man of Disneyland?

The Little Man of Disneyland is Patrick Begorra, a wee man in green, who smokes a small clay pipe. He lives at the roots of an old orange tree. He is awakened one morning by Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy who are starting to build a wonderful place called DISNEYLAND! They showed him the plans of this place for Big People.
Patrick Begorra finally did agree to move from his orange tree, with all that construction noise bothering him. His tree just happened to be in the middle of Main Street. He moved just before the Big Crowds came. He packed all his wee belongings in his wee wheelbarrow and still lives in Disneyland today in an undisclosed location. Look for him next time you're there!

Good luck finding him; his tree in Adventureland was removed in 2001. Still a fun little book.

Remember, cast members - return ALL parts of your costume! Perfect gift for those who are big on hand waving and pointing.

Wow, that AA head replica is pretty cool, but I'm wondering who actually made it. Is it a fan-made replica or was it produced by WDI/WED?

I shot off a question to the seller to find out....

A while ago they were selling the trash cans to every land, and I just thought ... wow ... there are some folks who are WAY MORE into Disney than I could ever imagine. Then again ... I was wanting to bid on the old parking lot character placards.

Moonliner Rocket kit looks great.I would never put that together if I had that. Great discoveries.

That head was a copy and not original, but who was it made by?

Those trash cans are awesome, but I'd rather have a Haunted Mansion Can.

That light fixture isn't too old. I was looking at the pictures and the price tag bar code is fairly recent. I wonder if it was used in 33?

There was one time I was back and forth on buying one of the old SkyWay carts through eBay! It wasn't that expensive for what it is, in my opinion, but I just couldn't afford it. I was surprised to see that there weren't that many bids on it for how inexpensive it was.

I just bid on it after finding out that it's the guy on the rocking chair of POTC.

The "One-Of-A-Kind Shop" tag clearly says Circa 1920's/1930's. That's pretty old to me.

The buyers for the OOAK Shop were pretty experienced and diligent on "dating" the antiques and other vintage furnishings, objects of art, and merchandise that were sold there, although some items were clearly marked "reproduction". But if this lamp had that type of dated tag...it was not a reproduction, but the "real thing." One of the buyers for this shop for most of it's life (though most were unaware of it) was none other than Walt's wife...Lillian Disney. The story is that Walt called for an antique shop in New Orleans Square, mainly to satisfy the "hobby" of his wife.

The Disneyland bar code is typical of the mid to late 1980's.

The lamp did not hang in Club 33 nor was it part of the "fixed" lighting fixtures of the shop. It likely only hung there as part of the merchandise mix that was purchased specifically for the shop.

In its hey-day, the OOAK shop was a quite well known and respected antique shop and did great business. It had a great reputation as having really, really low prices for the type of genuine antiques and vintage goods offered for sale. It was regularly frequented by many reputable interior designers and decorators who often got comped admission into Disneyland to shop at the store.

Many a Guest got their first taste of and introduction to, the world of antiques, at Disneyland's wonderful One-Of-A-Kind Shop.

Best quote from those "This is the exact trashcan used..."

apparently there was only one used in something special :P

Surprised the head is only $375 right now. Reproduction or no, there are a lot of creative things you can do (molding wise) with a piece like that!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...
