  • Disneyland Jan 24th - a wedding, faux swans, paint, and more!

Visited the park to get some photographs before starting a stressful day at the office, and got on the monorail, noticing a bride and groom in the nosecone. They then proceeded to get married in front of the castle!

And then I saw them. I'm not a fan of the swans, but to each their own, and it certainly won't stop me from visiting.

The castle had painting equipment inside, and outside -- everywhere -- there was paint masking and painted surfaces:

Seems like it was all Moms and Kids out today:

Then I strolled over into Frontierland and checked out the Shooting Gallery:

I had to use my "red eye reduction" on the picture above. Get it? Heh heh.

    Rancho Zocalo:

The "sails" over New Orleans Square (this comes up on Micechat every so often, so here's a picture):

The Mark Twain was out for the first run of the day (empty), and one of the pirates in the band rushed over to flirt with the boatcaptain:

    Pirates later started playing (music):

Hey wait a minute, I recognize that painting behind the pirates... at least I think I do...

"Queenie" hit the churro stand (or whatever they sell there)
before she started performing for the day:

And before I headed off, I saw a very dry Splash Mountain!

By the way, wait times were great today - 5 to 10 minutes for everything, including "Rockin' Space Mountain" and other popular rides.

Awesome shots! May I say that I am green with envy that you can just trot over to DL when you like? It's kind of hard to do that from Seattle! ha!

Thanks for sharing so that I can feed my DL addiction!

(P.S. How does one get married in front of the castle??)

They got married, then, in front of a castle that is mostly hidden by the blue tarps??? The bride looks very happy despite that mishap, which I am sure she did not know would happen when she booked her wedding. Most brides just have to worry about weather, but look at what a Disney bride has to worry about!
BTW I love your pictorials, and am always gleeful when I see a posting from you!!! Keep up the great work.

Did they get married on the Main St side of the castle of Fantasyland side?

Frogberto, your pictorials are always eye-popping and this was certainly no different.

Sure hope I get to meet you on Sunday.

Is it just me, or do those abstract forms in the moat look like they will be put in motion, eventually?

You pay a lot of money to shut down Disneyland and have a private wedding. I had no idea you could get married while the park was open. And that is sad for her about the castle. Great pictures and TR!!

I didn't know that Mickey was ordained.

Or, will they accept Mickey and Minnie's signatures as witnesses ?

Great report as always. You are so lucky to be able to pop into the park like that before work.

They got married in a little grotto, near the bridge, on the Main Street side. It's the second time I've seen someone married in this area, both times appeared to be Japanese tourists. The wedding area is near the Carnation Stage.
