  • Did the 50th End?

I haven't been to Disneyland since this summer and since the 50th anniversary celebration had been going on...lets just say, well passed the real 50th anniversary I wasn't exactly sure when they were going to end it. Have they quit with the 50th stuff (The anniversary, which, I do believe was in 2005, am I right?) and now introduced the Year of a Million Dreams celebration? I thought the Year of a Million dreams was WDW's 30th anniversary. (But they'll put it in both parks of course).
    Thanks FlAmAbLe

It was an 18 month (or at least was supposed to be) thing. YOAMD is also an 18ish month thing. The only thing left of the 50th is the show in the Opera House.

        It ended October 1st 2006 if I remember correctly.....thank goodness it's over!
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

50th is over... yet we still have the show at the OH.. the same parade, and same fireworks... so if you stick on a pair of gold mickey ears... you won't feel too much out of place (as long as you don't look directly at the castle)

Yeah but they ended it early. If it really ended at 18mths, it would have done so in November. But it finished a month earlier. Let's hope that YOAMD can end earlier than expected as well!

I'm glad we still have the fireworks. Does anybody know if the show has been shortened, I know the voiceovers were a little different.

Love the attractions sounds "starring" in the show. It's great.

For all intents and purposes it is the exact same show. It has not been scaled down at all.

If you want to get really picky, I mean super nerd picky, first, the line that says "50 years later..." was changed to "Today..." and "50 years ago..." was changed to "In 1955..."

Second, the projections aren't being shown at the moment because the castle is being worked on, and the projection equipment has been removed. They'll probably install some new equipment. Also the shooting ducks effects are omitted for the same reason.

And third, a string of castle flares was changed to a different type of flare during Tinkerbell's flight on Friday's performance. I can't explain it in words but those who are used to the show will notice the change if it is indeed permanant.
