Broadway Duchess, Darling if you only knew half as much as everybody thinks you do

  • #2
I am a 18 year old guy and love Disneyland. I have gone since I was 2 years old and I love it everytime I go. I hate people that dont like Disneyland and insult it because they love Six Flags. It sickens me when people dont know quality and history when it is right in front of them. For some reason it is really the males that are to blame now. There is this new skater/punk attitude like I am too cool to go to Disneyland. Those people are complete morons and I believe they should get their head screwed on correctly. It really is the intelligent type that goes to Disneyland and it really shows.

I Have been to other parks, and they are good, but they couldn't ever get close to Disneyland. Ever.

Wow. I think that might be a little harsh just because someone has a different opinion. I enjoy Disneyland, others do not. So what? That doesn't change my view point, and I sure as hell don't give a damn if someone is not entertained by the same things I am.

I agree that you have the right to have your own opinion. Im just tying to find out why there are many older Disneyland fans and few in the teen years

One thing is cleanliness, Six Flags and other parks I won't mention, are always dirty. To an extent, Disney has always kept a higher standard.
I love DL for its creativity.
"Some" reasons that most Teenagers do not like DL is because of the coasters are more family oriented. Meaning no loops, corkscrews, flips. Obviously, that is changing with DCA AND WDW. That has always been for years.

Sorry, that was in resonse to the other poster who said that "those people are complete morons and I believe they should get their head screwed on correctly. It really is the intelligent type that goes to Disneyland and it really shows."

              Sorry, I should've clarified.

i have been going to DL since i was 4 months old. i loved it then, and i still love it today as a 20 year old. Maybe some teens dont like it as much cuz DL is more family oriented and so our Imaginears create rides that families with kids can all enjoy together. some teens forget that they have probably grown up with Disney all their life. I love DL and when i was growing up and even as a teen, I dreamed about getting a job there. look at me today, i go to college full time, I have been working at DL for the past 2 years and have been loving it, and during my free time my friends and i go to the park. i enjoy escaping reality for a day, and just use my imagination while at the parks. but yeah most of our rides do not have like loops, or corkscrews, or whatever else, and thats probably what draws away the teenage crowd. but most teens do enjoy DL cuz i have talked to them on several occasions.

I can really relate. I am 17 yrs old and love disneyland as well. There is just this magical feeling that makes you feel happy. I love to spend time finding out more and more of its hidden secrets. Most of the other teens at my school say the only disney thing they like is Shreck 2 and thats not even disney! that drives me nuts

I'm a big fan of the Park but I wouldn't miss Six Flags or any other "rollercoaster" park for the world. I just love rollercoasters in general. They're great!

BUT... Disney is so much better about being clean, having better variety (a little for everyone), better food, better entertainment, classier etc. I could go on all day.

It's all about what you like really. I know people who absolutely HATE Disney. Think it's boring, childish, for families you name it. So don't teens aren't the only ones who aren't into it. You just have good taste!!

I think a lot of teenagers prefer the instant gradification of death-defing, break-neck speed rollar coasters that are found at other amusment parks. After you ride, you say 'Wow!' because of the G-forces, the number of loops, air time etc.
At Disneyland, you say 'Wow' becuase of the effects, the story line, or the detail. I think DL appeals to those of us who have a keener eye for the minute

well, according to my teenage daughter Dl is lame and boring and she begs me to not make her go again. She does like magic mountain though, but only because it's more of a meat market for teens....needless to say she does not go their often. i think we went once last year and we had season passes...LOL

this is totally inaccurate. i have seen a high concentration of stupid people at DL. More so there than any other theme type park I've been to. I suppose it's because they but into the marketing and are high on pixie dust the whole time...but I have seen people do some really dumb things at DL.....and I do dumb stuff all the time so I can really appreciate when people are doing worse stuff than me...LOL

I have to disagree. I think that the true fans are more intellegent. What do I mean by true? Well ones that love the park, and don't want to inconvience the experience of any other guest. Most Passholders fall under this umbrella, but the rare, yet common, Ps do not. Teenagers that misuse the park for a after-school entertainment, and act rude are not.

Well this thread prompted me to finally register. I'm 18 and the first time I went to Disneyland was when I was 3, or so my mother tells me. I've had an AP for 10 years but really just started using it a lot since I turned 18. I'm there all the time now and have started to come to this message board and others and read everything I can. I've been 3 times this week already and i plan on going fri, sat, and sun (mostly to see Suburban Legends at Club Buzz, one of my favorite bands ever). Recently a lot of my friends have been getting APs. I don't really know why but we just go all the time and love it. I don't know why people think it's lame but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Most people in college are getting drunk and doing stupid things but i choose to spend every free minute at Disneyland.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive.
If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

With all this talk of "off the shelf" and "on the back-burner" it seems the only thing that DCA is really missing is the kitchen sink!

You're right on the money. I think it's one of those "miss the forest for the trees" things. Some people appreciate the atmosphere as well as the rides, and some don't get it. I know a few years ago, when I was still a teen, I loved Disneyland, but I had a different view than most of them. They all seemed to believe that once you were in your 20's, life ends so they rush through life like dumb dumbs. Be thankful that you all are some of the few that know how to stop and appreciate more than just cheap thrills.
"Do it for me then. Your gaming buddies are going to be there too. It will be good for you kids to go out and blow the stink off yourselves for one night."

"Fine. For you. And for the eradication of stink."

                                        Disney Teens

I am a 17 yr old girl who loves all things disney! If I could I would go to disneyland almost everyday I hope to work there when I go to college. I even read all book that are related to disney. I am wondering if there are any other disney fans out their ages 15-19. I'd really like to hear why you love disneyland, because most teens just think it is weird.
