  • Blue Bayou

Surprisingly enough, i have never eaten at the blue bayou. Wow, thats kinda sad. I was wondering if you guys could answer these questions for me:

    1) Is it any good?

    2) How are the prices?

    3) what kind of food do they serve?

Any answers would be awesome. Thanks.
Wow, that was a fun ride?

What should we go on next?

BizarreSFL: How about the haunted mansion???

But we already went on it five times, haven't you had enough??

    BizarreSFL: NOOOOOOO!

I absolutely love BB! Although I haven't eaten there or been to DL since last year in Feb. I know the menu changed, but the atmosphere can't be beat. Their food is a little pricey but trust me its worth it.

I suggest the Monte Crisco (for lunch) or the Jumbaliya Gumbo (I think that is what it was called). Both were to die for and you can't beat the experience of eating on the water in the Bayou watching the POTC guests float on by.

        The food there is good.

The cost is very high for what you get. If cost isn't a factor the atmosphere is worth it. After the last time spending almost $100 on 2 people I've had my fill. Hope this helps.

It's good, but very pricey! I have only eaten there once and we had a big discount, but it was still pretty pricey. About $60 for 3 of us and we only got 2 meals and 1 dessert and 2 drinks. (that was with a 40% discount and not incl tip)
I say try it once if you can afford it. You can split meals as well, but they charge for an extra plate.

I agree. while the prices are indeed a little high, the quality of the food and the service is definitely seen.

I recommend the prime rib, or the filet(or both if you can afford it) damn good stuff.

I would like a copy of the recipe for the gumbo. thats good stuff. they need to make it available as an appetizer though. they used to. I wonder why it is now only available with the entree's ?

                Re: Blue Bayou

it was ok when the prices were lower. Now the menu starts at about $25.00 a plate. The food is consistent with family dining (olive garden, black angus..type places) and the thing that really ruins the experience is the ride. People go buy taking flash pictures while I was trying to eat and yelling at us...How's the food? throw us a roll?...so taking all that into consideration it's not worth the price. When the food was better and the prices lower (about $15.00 a plate) it was enjoyable to dine there. Especially when we were near the water, but behind the large boat. Also, once the place got busy the service really sucked. It was very slow and forgetful, but when we went right at opening when it wasn't packed yet the service was good.

                      Re: Blue Bayou

Last year when we went to Disneyland we did NOT eat at the Blue Bayou. But this June when we return, I'll be sure to have a reservation.

(A month in advance is best from what I understand)

I've NEVER had a Monte Cristo and from everything I've read about this signature dish...I think I need to have one this summer.

Bottom line is that everyone should try it at least once and form your own opinion. We go once every trip and love it first as a tradition, second for atmosphere and third for the food. Every time we have went it has been a different experience but so far we have been lucky that the food has always been good. This year the service was very slow but I try to cut them some slack and keep in mind there may be varying circumstances. Besides, I am in Disneyland, so what's my hurry, right? Price, well there were 8 of us in December. When I got the $265 bill I nearly fainted! (that did include desserts) Still it was worth it because we don't go often. Lord knows we have wasted money many other ways and not enjoyed it nearly as much.

Yes, do be sure to make Priority seating if you decide to go because they are often by reservations only.

We used to go for the Monte Cristo, but now you can get one for a lot less at Cafe Orleans. It has become our new place to eat every trip. It is a lot less crowded too.
