Most likely so the track will look pretty for when the press decends on Tomorrowland in a few months

I noticed that at the Monorail Station Wednesday...but all the trash and stagnant water was still standing in the "wells" and some of the old ride equipment/relays left over from Rocket Rods are still in place and looking like they'd been rotting in the elements, unmaintained, for 6 or 7 years.

the large "Center rail" it looks like it's just been repainted right there at the monorail station. But there's still standing water, trash, leaf debris in the center wells too. And all the stuff you see on the edges in this picture (what's there anyway) looks beat up, rusted in many areas (even right along the fresher looking center rail) and seriously not in shape to be part of the controls of any attraction

I wasn't really trying for the RocketRodTrack but this was last Wednesday 02-21. But you can clearly see what the OP is talking about

It's been long enough it's probably rustoleum.

I'm with you. Quick, cheap cosmetic touch up....still we can hope.

I noticed this @ Wikipedia for the People Mover People. Any comments/thoughts on how this would affect the return of the People Movers?

                          Wikipedia Rocket Rod Page

                          1) There are a number of reasons that the Rocket Rods closed. The Rocket Rods completed the course of the 16-minute PeopleMover in only about 3 minutes. Because the Rocket Rods project was not given a large enough budget to bank the track's curves, the Rocket Rods had to slow down substantially to maneuver most of the turns. The support structure and track originally built for the PeopleMover was not meant to be used for a high speed attraction and began to weaken.

                          2) After the closure of Rocket Rods, hopes arose that the PeopleMover would be reinstalled. Rumors still circulate today, usually stating that the PeopleMover will return, possibly as a copy of the still-running Magic Kingdom version: Tomorrowland Transit Authority. [citation needed] The equipment used for the PeopleMover only still exists on the Rocket Rods track in some places, which would require much of the equipment to be reinstalled again.

Yup, I noticed it a few weeks ago myself. although the lighting up there is bad at night I wasn't sure if I was seeing things! My guess was just for show and nothing else.

Well I for one hope they are doing something with it! I miss the people mover, but even if they put something else ther it would start to bring TL back to the dazzle days of yesteryear.
