A blast from the past from the Opus Archives...a newspaper ad (ran in Orange County's "Daily Pilot" newspaper) touting the big 25 Hour anniversary party on Disneyland's 25th Anniversary:

Check out some of the "big name" entertainment of the time.

And here's the ticket you got from that ad:

I feel old because I remember the 25th!!

Hey, not only that, there was a televised celebration as well with Annette Funicello and all the original Mouseketeers along with several other 'Disney' celebrities!

What happened to those good old days? They were great ideas! Why don't they do this sort of thing now!?

$12.50, that is just amazing! What is that converted to today's disney dollars? $125 or so for a hard ticketed event like this?

I was there. Rupert Holmes played at the majestic Space Stage with Space Mountian looming overhead. Annette and Frankie did a surprise show on a pre-Fantasmic Stage on the Rivers of America.

I still have my "I was There" button and the program guide for the day. There's nothing like watching the sun come up through the still holy matterhorn.

Cool ad, Opie!!! Thanks for showing it to us!

Can you imagine $12.50 to get into DL? Even with 25 years of inflation...today's prices are WAY out there now.

wow....admission to this special event cost almost as much as parking does today.

$12.50 in 1980s dollars adjusted for inflation is about $33.47 in todays dollars. Very good for free parking and 25 hours at the park.

Back then the Park was close to extinction (pre the 80's when the Bass family tried to do a nostile buy out of Disney and pre Eisner salvation). I think they felt fortunate to get the performers and the people to buy the tickets. Man do I wish I had done that, imagine 25 hours straight Disney extravaganza!

It was awesome. A friend of mine got the tickets for us cause it was my birthday and we got a motel room down the street. We went into the Park and stayed until about 6pm, got some dinner, went to the motel and took a nap until 9pm and then spent the entire night in the Park. Seeing sun come up behind the Matterhorn was awesome. Everything that day and night was first class all the way. I still have the T-Shirt and pin.
