  • Meet the Robinsons Peoplemover?

Capt Hook's Meet the Robinsons character thread got me thinking about this. Anyone think that there is any chance that Disney may be waiting to see if this movie is a hit and try to tie any new Peoplemover into this movie? I know that Al has talked about the Incredibles being used, but MtR is set in the future (those Todayland shots in the trailer are great), so perhaps there would be a better inspiration for a replacement. What do you all think?

So far from what I've been seeing, I like the designs of the vehicles in Meet the Robinsons and think that I'd love to see the People Mover take on that kind of style.

Though.. I would prefer it only from a design point of view. I wouldn't want the ride to be a "meet the robinsons" ride layover.. same way I wouldn't want an "incredibles" layover either.

I have to agree. I much rather prefer a stand alone attraction, but it seems that Disney wants to squeeze every dollar it can out of its properties, so it seems unlikely that the ride will return at all if not tied into one of the films. To me, MtR seems like the lesser of the two evils.

What if they used the time machine from the movie? The track runs through various show buildings, each could display a different time period. You could have some effect at the beginning of each building to simulate the time travel. Maybe build one or two more show buildings out in the Motor Boat Cruise area to house some more eras. Then you would have a sort of Peoplemover/Carousel of Progress reimagining.

Off topic: Has anyone else noticed Space Mountain in "Todayland" in that movie's trailer? If this movie goes big I wonder if the execs have a mind to redo all of TL in this theme?

IMHO theming the Peoplemover is like theming the Monorail. It's an alternative transportation showcase, not a vehicle for cross-promotion. I would hate to see a movie tie-in.

Unlike the vehicles in "The Incredibles", though, those in "Meet the Robinsons" are a transportation system in a futuristic city. So, I'm not really opposed to the idea in the same way that I reject outright any suggestion of tying the PeopleMover to the transports on Syndrome's evil-genius island.

Syndrome in Tomorrowland would be a truly horrible idea.

So how are you opposed to it, then?
I am opposed to theming it, no matter how well a theme may coincidentally "fit".

I would probably prefer something original because I am getting sick of all this movie crap. But, I'd really have to see "Meet the Robinsons", first, in order to form an opinion one way or the other.

I'm interested. In MTR and/or TI inspiring new PM. Not a direct tie-in.

I agree with pineapplewhipaddict, as long as its not painted flats in the show buildings I just want something moving on the tracks.
