  • First break-down on Space Mountain!

Well, it had to happen eventually!

This afternoon about 5:15 pm, we were enjoying our fourth ride on Rockin SM this trip, and as we entered the finale/photo tunnel, our car came to a stop. An announcement came over the loudspeaker and then all of the service lights came on. Two CM's came up along side of our car and told us to sit patiently for a few moments (what else could we do??? hehe).

Both CM's then pushed us along the track and around the final corner. We all got a kick out of it and I even (jokingly) shouted "FASTER!!!". Even the CM's had a laugh! We reached the unloading area and got out safe and sound.

Thanks to the fine CM's for bringing our ride to a safe and unusual ending.

That was a first for us!

They pushed you the whole way? That's pretty cool. When I broke down on it, they just released the brake, grabbed the rocket, ran, and pushed it off...exactly like a two man bobsled team, only they didn't jump inside afterwards. It was hilarious.

There were too many breakdowns this past Sunday. IASW in the afternoon, SM and Buzz were 101 in the morning. it was bad day for the park.

Glad you had fun with it though PirateMickey.

Is the ghost of Paul Pressler haunting the park ?

        (Sorry, another thread is leaking)

I had Space break down while I was in line on Saturday afternoon. I've never broken down while I was on the ride, though. I imagine that would be pretty cool.

Yeah, it was down earlier in the day around lunchtime too.

We were on it first thing this morning and all went well, but as we finished up lunch at Red's we saw them turning folks away at the entrance.

The Monorail was also down around 5:30 pm today.

            Sun spots??? hehe

Just a rough week for Disneyland.
I heard from a few Florida friends on Spring Break here, who also ran into the same obstacle.

Also, this is now stuck in my head: "All the people, they can't believe: Jamaica, we got a bobsled team!"

Thank you, Madame_Leota. Now I'll have to track down that movie instead of doing my homework.

poor Mr Tassie didn't get to ride it at all. He got a fastpass, and it broke down just as he was about to go on

Sorry to hear that Tassie. On Saturday night the Fastpass line to get on the SM was 25 minutes!
                    Regular line was 95 minutes.

Watch a Matterhorn reset sometime, there it really is a 4-man bobsled team. :yea:

It's a shame you weren't like 2 rockets later, or you would've gotten a nice view inside with the lights on. So close...

Sounds like a cool experience. Like I've mentioned in another thread...Space Mountain would be the ride I'd want to be on for a breakdown. I've seen it through the windows in the old queue with the lights on but that is totally not the same. Thanks for sharing your cool story PirateMickey.

It's not really anything I hope for anymore considering the thing is lit up like a Christmas tree anyway.

                            The saga continues...

We were back in the Park today and went to SM to enjoy our "readmission" ride that we "earned" from yesterday's breakdown.

Low and behold, it was down again!

A few hours later, we went back and were able to use our readmission pass to enter the FP queue.

                            Guess what!!!

Down again! This time we were in line, so they turned us around. We asked for a new pass and they told us that we would just have to get another FP for a later time.

I said, "wait a minute!"... We just used a re-ad pass to get in line, therefore, we just "wasted" it since we couldn't get on the ride. That's not right!

It took a few minutes and three CM's to decide that we were indeed due a new re-ad pass. They filled one out and gave it to us.

We finally got to enjoy the ride later in the day, about 7:15 pm. Whew!

Hopefully, someone will figure out what the heck is going on with the breakdowns before the real crowds start showing up this w/e.

                            Good luck!

Space breaks down because people can't figure out how to sit down, or that they should maybe mention it if they'll be needing extra time getting in after watching rockets zip by for 5 minutes in line. Or that trying to stand up on a lift is a bad idea.
