  • Smithsonian to get 2 Disneyland Rides

A friend from South Carolina sent me an e-mail tonight with a question. On some news type TV show he was watching the other night, they did a story on the Smithsonian and at some point in the show said that in celebration of the 50th the Smithsonian would receive two original attractions from "the Magic Kingdom". Which two? he wanted to know?

First is the use of "Magic Kingdom" which usually refers to WDW but you never know because the news people usually screw up the names anyway.

Has anybody here heard of this? And if so, which two original rides are going to the Smithsonian? And from Disneyland or Florida's Magic Kingdom? :monkey:

I bet you those are not the original opening day vehicles anyway. they have reglassed them and rehabbed them so many times I bet the first ones were another material. i'd look hard at the ears of a dumbo then and now, especially the seats and such.

These 2 vehicles are part of a new DL display in the Smithsonian. I live in DC and plan to head over there tomorrow and check it out. I'll post a report.

Didn't the ears on the original Dumbo flap up and down?
