I dont think it will be down any time. They will probably just leave it up depending on what they will do with it in the future

Won't it take time to redo the lighting and the audio and lighting? I'm not sure how much or how little is involved in making the change.

Lighting was only added, not taken away when Rockin' was started and the audio can be switched in no time at all. It will probably take no time at all... probably overnight

A flip of a switch. There was no downtime when Rockin' opened, so I wouldn't expect any downtime when Rockin' leaves. The only thing that needs to be removed is the "Rockin'" addition to the Space Mountain marquee outside the attraction. Everything else is changed more or less with a flip of a switch.

when it was going to be rockin' at night, space at day, they were going to shut it down for 30 min to switch other effects on, and audio on.

I shouldn't...if the lighting is indeed run off a HogIII unit, all they should need to do is re-load the old show. If the soundtrack is on DACs all they should have to do is switch that, too. I'm thinking it's slightly more complex than that, but that's my techie-fueled guess!

Is it light in there during gradnite? If so, they will prob leave it up for that.

Didn't they do a version of Rockit for grad nites with Hoobastank?

Leaving most of the lights up shouldn't be a problem, since Space is usually so darn dark anyways, right?

I sure hope it's just a switch flip! I'm flying in just two days after the change over and it would be monumentally disappointing if Space Mountain were closed for several days -- or the entire week -- while I am there. I can live without Splash Mountain, but not Space Mountain!!

I've been keeping a close eye on the calendar on Disneyland's page and SM is not on the refurb list.

I would imagine that since Disney has known well in advance when they are un-rockin' SM, they would have known to put SM on the refurb list by now if they really believed it would require some downtime.

There was no downtime to convert it to Rockin', and there is nothing scheduled for the conversion back. Worst case scenario, Space Mountain may open an hour or two late. But that's about it.

                        No downtime.

Unless Uncle Joe Benson takes more than 45 seconds to get out, and the ride cascades.

No downtime. It really takes a minute or so of a mechanics time to switch between versions...

Only Reason they were going to "close" for 3o minutes for a day and night version was to cycle out the line.
