  • Gas prices effect on CMs?

How are gas prices affecting CMs? Especially those who live in Corona/Riverside or otherwise have long commutes.

My commute was 35 miles one way to work. Fortunately, I drive a Prius, so I get 50 MPG.

How is everyone else doing? With the continual rise in gas prices, how much longer will it be before you simply can't afford to work there anymore?

I've wondered this for awhile. I work like 5 miles from my job, and still complain.

Well here in FL we'll just say... it makes me want to cry because as soon as I got my job which is oh an hour drive the prices sky rocketed.

I'm pretty sure it affects them the same as everyone else.

My roommate and I have been carpooling or walking. Of course, having the roommate to begin with means I've been cutting down on my driving, so even though I live about 30 miles away, it's not too bad.

But I didn't fill up my tank last Sunday, when it was $2.40 a gallon. I didn't really feel like spending the time, and I had enough to get me there and back again one more time. Then on Friday, it was $3.20 a gallon. D'oh!

I'm coming from Irvine to Anaheim and I would be scraping by if I weren't getting 4 hour shifts, but I'm not getting enough hours to pay for the gas.

Coming from the valley, the best advice for me to take personally is to fill up while i'm in anaheim. it's been 3.20s for a while now and is actually up to 3.55 right now pathetic

Not really. I'm certain gas prices affect someone who makes $15/hour less than someone who makes $8/hour.

Really? I would have thought it was an APer. After all, they feel they own the whole park, why not the whole road as well?

Well, I'm not a CM any more...but the prices sure make me think twice about the 110 miles I have to drive each my to go to a meet, much as I enjoy them.

And as high as gas prices are now, they've gone up about 25 percent or so since many of these CMs started.

When I was a CM in the 70's-80's they went up 100 per cent or more...and our wages certainly didn't go up that much. Plus the overall rate of price inflation was much worse than now.

I'm seeing new threads about people hiring on and who want to work there all the time, so I guess it can't be that much more of a problem than for the rest of us.
