  • First week of December

My research seems to suggest this could be the slowest week at the park between Turkey Day and New years. If we wanted to go, and see the christmas overlay/decorations, would anybody suggest a diiferent week? We would love to hit a slow week.

That's the one. We have done a DLR trip in early december (1st to 2nd week) every year now for many years and have a great time. The weather is typically good, the decorations are great and get the family in the season spirit, and no crowds in the park. The closer to the 25th you get, the bigger the crowds get though.

Just stay away from the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I know Thanksgiving week is crowded along with the week of Christmas and New Years.

Never done the week of Christmas, but we do go the week of Thanksgiving.
Usually the start of Thanksgving week isn't TOO bad, it when it gets towards Wednesday you want to get out of dodge.

          TJ,

I have been a few times in the first two weeks of December, and it's always been perfect!! Great time to go, I think you'll love it. Great weather, fun stuff, and the crowds are better.

We've gone a few times that first week - it's great.

              Re: First week of December

The first week of December is typically the time when they close DL early for a few nights for CM parties. Just FYI. It is still a good time to go since the parks are empty and you get a lot done in a little time.

Yeah, that is when we do our Christmas trip.

We used to always arrive on the sunday of the T-Day Holiday w/e and then stay for the week. We OWNED the place!

The past three years we have arrived on the wednesday before T-Day and stay through the following wednesday. We started a new family tradition of enjoying Thanksgiving Dinner at the DL Hotel in the Grand Ballroom.

Then we do Knott's and Legoland on friday and saturday, and then enjoy DL from sunday until we leave for home.

                Works for us!

                Enjoy!

Really? How early do you consider early? All the years we've been going and haven't noticed it close too early.

                    Re: First week of December

I have to agree with everyone else. My birthday is in the beginning of Dec and I go out for either the first or second week. I believe last year the parks stayed open until either 8pm or 11pm depending on the day of the week. I was there closer to the third week last year, though. Still the crowds weren't bad except Fridays after 4-ish and Weekends.
