  • Is two Toystory attractions too much?

Once Midway Mania opens up--and the latest ride facade work has me excited that this will actually be a major E ticket--should the space for Buzz Lightyear's AstroBlasters be used for something else?
Since both rides use not only a similar background, but a similar basic ride idea (shooting at things in order to gain scores), and Tomorrowland is still arguably in need of some real attraction (irregardless of the argument of whether Nemo is fantasyland or Tomorrowland) I think BLAB would much better be used for something a little less cheap feeling. BLAB's flat facades and menial blacklight effects leave me feeling cheated a little, and I really wouldn't miss it if it left.
    What do you think?
Forget 'Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln,' Samantha Brown is Disney's most sophisticated animatronic.

Nah, I think it's ok to have an attraction themed to the same movie in 2 separate parks. I think Buzz is a good fit in Tomorrowland. It's space themed and it's a good family ride. And WAY better than Buzz in Orlando.

But a new Tomorrowland attraction WOULD be appreciated Maybe something NOT based on a Pixar movie. Yea, that's the ticket.

I see Buzz Lightyear's attraction a BUZZ LIGHTYEAR attraction.
Both rides may have similar mechanics, but they will be different. Toy Story Mania is going to use state of the art high-definition projections to create the sets and the 'games' and probably a few AAs, as to where BLAB (i hate saying blab..) has it's cheap cardboard sets, a lot of flourscent reflective paint and nothing all that moving...yes we see things going up and down and spinning and the like, but it's really pretty static, as to where Toy Story Mania will be constantly in motion.

If they were smart, they would tone down the Lightyear apparences in this new attraction.

I go on Buzz Frequently and their is more animation/movement on it then any Fantasyland ride...

Nothing better would be able to utilize this space quite like buzz does. Lets focus on the people mover track.... thats a REAL waste.

astro blaster is more of buzz lightyear of star command then toy story, so it would be fine to have two attractions

Re: Is two Toystory attractions too much?

It's a little much, but they're in two seperate parks, so I think that justifies it. Even if it were too much, I don't think BLAB should have to be destroyed...it came first. It's still a fairly new ride too.

The concepts for the rides appeal to much of today's audience, so I do feel that Disney should try to have this gaming-type thing in all of their parks for one attraction.

Now, if they wanted to make ANOTHER Toy Story attraction in Anaheim, I'd throw a fit.

There's so much more to use than Pixar...where's our Little Mermaid attraction? Beauty and the Beast? If it has to be based on a movie, for heaven's sake, why is the Disney renaissance being blatantly ignored?

I think it works since they'll be in two different parks.

I agree with others, BLAB is specific to Buzz not really Toy Story (even though Buzz got his start in TS). I think the two rides are fiune. I actually really like BLAB, and am fine with it occupying that space for now.

                    A little piece of heaven

I don't think it is too much, BLAB is space themed and MM will have a carnival theme to it. I don't go on BLAB often, but I do enjoy it.

There is a precedent for having two attractions based on the same movie: Alice in Wonderland (the dark ride, and the teacups).

2 ToyStory attractions!? That is too much!

Oh wait, Dumbo has 2 so far (Dumbo, Casey Jr. Circus Train)

Oh wait, Alice also has 2 so far (Alice in Wonderland, Mad Tea Party)

Oh wait, POTC also has 2 so far (POTC itself, and Pirates Lair)

Oh wait, there's 'A Bug's Life' (It's Tough to be a Bug, Heimlich's Chew Chew Train, Flik's Flyers, Francis' Ladybug Boogie, and Tuck n' Roll Drive 'em Buggies)

Oh wait, there is also 2 Nemo attractions (Nemo Subs, Turtle Talk with Crush)

In conclusion, a movie having 2 attractions dedicated to it, is kinda old news at this point.

Buzz Lightyear deals only with Buzz and not Woody or Jesse or Mr. Potato. Midway Mania will deal only with those and not Buzz so there shouldn't be too much overkill.
