  • Help. Thinking about getting AP

We are going to Disneyland in July for my sons birthday and we got a package deal that included 3 day park hopper passes.

I was thinking about at the end of our trip upgrading to just the Deluxe Pass.. Can anyone help me figure out how much its going to be with just upgrading mine and my 3 year olds passes.

    I really appreciate your help

    thanks

Re: Help. Thinking about getting AP

Well, with a package deal, you may have gotten a slight discount off the listed price. That said, the full price is $179 for adult and $149 for children, although the "early purchase price" is $159 and $129. Your ticket will be coded with the price. If you asked them to scan it at a ticket window, I would guess that they'd be happy to let you know their values.

The deluxe pass run $239 for adults or kids, so if you do the math, you come up with a range of $60-$80 for you to upgrade and $90-$110 for your son.

    Hope this helps!

      Thanks for your help.
I have another question if you don't mind ..

We are going again at Christmas time for 3 days with my boyfriends family and are thinking of doing a package deal again.

I checked the black out dates on the Deluxe Pass and the Christmas dates are black out dates. I think I read on here somewhere that its $30 a day on black out dates ?

That's right - to get in on a blackout day costs $30. I believe it's the same for adults and kids.

and I should also upgrade my passes after I use my EE on Saturday?

The only bad part of using our AP when they use the package deal is they will get an EE on their passes and we won't and they will get an EE into ToonTown and we won't.

That's right. Blackout dates for the deluxe are Dec. 22nd thru the 31st. You'd end up spending another $90 for those days, but if you upgraded to premium at that point, you'd only spend $120. Just a thought. I know I agonized over which pass to get, and I live 900 miles away!

I've struggled with the early entry issue as well, since I'm the only one in my family with a pass. However, if you're staying at one of the resort hotels, you do get early entry with that. With Mickey's Toontown early entry, I ended up picking up a ticket on ebay for a few bucks.

Yeah we live in Arizona so its not like we go ALL the time but it would be nice to take him a couple times a year.
We wouldn't be staying at the Resort Hotel. We will be at a Good Neighbor so that knocks us off the EE with the inlaws coming from Canada for Christmas its a little to much extra money for the hotel

Yeah I thought about getting the Premium but can't afford the money right now I am asking my family for GC for my birthday in June so I can upgrade in July when I go, but we still have to fork over the money for my sons pass ...

I guess it wouldn't be so bad to pay for the Premium for me and the deluxe for him and just pay the $90 for him at Christmas

Oh so much to think about ....

Remember, the premium gets 15% off food, and 10% off merchandise. You might also consider going a week earlier in Dec to avoid the black out dates. The park from 12/22-1/3 will be PACKED (and there will be turnstile closures, happens each year.) (Of course, we will be there though.)
If you see a cute yellow lab puppy with a yellow cape, WAVE! It might be us! (Or it may be someone else that lurks here!) Thank you for asking before you pet! Next trip, Dec 22-Jan 3rd.

                    Another thought to ponder...

if you're paying for the meals for your group, you'll save an additional 5% at most restaurants with the premium. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it does add up quickly.

Okay so I think you have convinced me to go with the Premium for me and the Deluxe for the mini me.

I wish we could go a week earlier. Like I said the inlaws will be here for Christmas and I believe they are getting in Dec 21 or 22.

We were there 04 on New Years Eve ... I will never ever ever EVER do that again *LOL*
Did I mention it was bad *LOL*

Re: Help. Thinking about getting AP

If you booked through Walt Disney Travel, then the ticket upgrades are not quite as simple to do and you'll need to stop by or give them a call to figure out the upgrade price since all other tickets except WDT tickets list a price.

Secondly if you're staying at the property hotels you get EE all days regardless of what kind of tickets you have so long as they're valid tickets.

Thanks Pipeek. We did book through Walt Disney Travel. I will give them a call on Tuesday to see what the ticket values are.

Thats strange, we've always done ours from WDTC, and the value of the ticket has always been the advanced purchase price listed on Disney's website. For 3 day tickets that would be $159/$129.
