  • Quick question about POTC Ride...

Does anybody know the shpiel the skeleton says before you go down the drop (where it goes something like "these be the last friendly words you hear" or something like that)

Re: Quick question about POTC Ride...

Here ya go: I found this at Wikipedia.

Psst! Avast there! It be too late to alter course, mateys. And there be plundering pirates lurkin' in ev'ry cove, waitin' to board. Sit closer together and keep your ruddy hands in board. That be the best way to repel boarders. And mark well me words, mateys: Dead men tell no tales! Ye come seekin' adventure with salty old pirates, eh? Sure you've come to the proper place. But keep a weather eye open mates, and hold on tight. With both hands, if you please. Thar be squalls ahead, and Davy Jones waiting for them that don't obey.
Are you telling me that you built a theme park.. out of a vinery and a bear shaped mountain?!!?..

      Two answers...heh.

This is what the Skull before the drop says:

"Psst. Avast there...it be too late to alter course, mateys...and there be plunderin' pirates waitin' in ev'ry cove...waitin' to board. Set closer together, and keep yer ruddy hands inboard. That be the best way to repel boarders. And mark well me words, mateys...dead men tell no tales. Hehehe...Ye come seekin' adventure in salty ol' pirates, aye? Sure ye've come to the proper place. But keep a wether eye open mates, and hold on tight, with both hands if ye please. Thar be squalls ahead, and Davy Jones waitin' for them what don't obey!"

However, the quote you said actually used to be in the pitch black cavern after the treasure scene, after both drops (where the Davy Jones projection currently is)...the entire spiel quote of that is:

"No fear have ye of evil curses says you...arr...heh heh. Properly warned ye be, says I. Who knows when that evil curse will strike the greedy beholders of this bewitch'd treasure.

      (Dead men tell no tales...)

Perhaps ye knows too much. Ye seen the cursed treasure, ye know where it be hidden. Now proceed at your own risk. These be the last friendly words ye hear: Ye may not survive t'pass this way again!

      (Dead men tell no tales...)"

Also note that this section of dialogue was between three voices. The first spiel was by a stronger, foreboding voice. The "dead men tell no tales" as an echo of a ghostly warning voice. The the second block of exposition was in the voice of a feeble-voiced old man.

Oh how I miss that cavern with those words being spoken.

then buy the old cd and listen to that track. Just bring your cd player or ipod and crank it up during the ride....I should try that now that I brought it up

Barbossa reiterates some of these words in "at World's End." Right before they plunge over the, um, World's End.

Didn't they changed it for the updates? Doesn't he mention Jack?

Sediment meant in the current movie, not the ride.

You can also see the whole ride the way it use to be quotes and all on the second disc of the POTC Curse of the Back Pearl DVD, its an excert from the old Disneyland TV show when the ride first opened with a great intro from Walt and some behind the scenes stuff, Makes buying the first movie totaly worth it on its own.
