  • Favorite place to eat near Disneyland?

If you're like me and prefer to save money by not eating on Disney property, where do you like to go? If I want a sit down meal, I like Millie's. I've tried Tiffy's as well, their ice cream is good. For fast food, I go up the street to Sonic.

We always end our day at the Uva Bar. I know it's "technically" on Disney property, but we really like the place. Interesting appetizers... not-bad entrees and good booze. We almost always eat at the bar because there's no wait... and, if we're there on the right night, Justin will be tending bar. He's an ace.

We also spent a fabulous evening with Circarama, Tiger Lily, Dusty Sage and Fishbulb at Morton's. Definately NOT a way to save money, but the food was outstanding and the company was sublime.
"Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

Now I want to rephrase that... my motivation wasn't always to save money. I like Koji's @ The Block for shabu shabu!

Koji's is really good, but if you want to drive a few more miles north, exit Beach, there are a bunch of great Korean BBQ places, the ribs are great.
I don't know the names, but I've ate at most and they are good.

Mimi's Cafe. Best value around, great food. I like to start the day with the Monterey Omelette, which comes with potatoes, a huge muffin (which makes a good late day snack) and a glass of fresh squeezed OJ for $8. Evening time, the French Dip or the Chicken Pot Pie.
If you see a cute yellow lab puppy with a yellow cape, WAVE! It might be us! (Or it may be someone else that lurks here!) Thank you for asking before you pet! Next trip, Dec 22-Jan 3rd.

They do have a great breakfast.
Whatever you do stay away from Captain Kidds. I got sick twice after having the breakfast buffet. First time I thought maybe it was an anomally but after the second time I wont eat there again.

Chris & Pitts on Euclid and Crescent - take 5 north and exit at Euclid - about two miles. Or - take Ball Road to Euclid and turn right. It's on the left.

Hofs Hut off 5 South at City Drive/State College in Orange - near Crystal Cathedral or take Harbor to Chapman and turn left.

Mimi's is good too - across the street. They have a really good Cobb Salad.

Buca di Beppo - it's down Harbor just on the border of Anaheim/Garden Grove.

                        Casa De La Garcia!

It is down close to the Target on S Harbor, Is it chatsworth st?
Just a little strip mall, family run real good mexican food, very inexpensive, weekdays between 11:00 and 2:00pm, they have an all you can eat buffet for about 7 bucks.
The food is real mexican food, not like the more commercial type restaurants.
The drinks are huge too. We love it.
Not a fancy place, like I said, it is cheap, clean, friendly, and real mexican good stuff!

We enjoy house of blues also, but it's not really cheap. The food is good though.
We have enjoyed Tony Roma's in the past for dinner as well.
The Denny's right across the street from the entrance is really great. Those people get you into a seat, take your order, and get your food. They know how to handle the Disneyland crowd. It is clean, close, and affordable for the family. Good Denny's Food.
Stay away from the IHOP a few doors down! It is filthy, we got sick a few years ago.
Goin around the world...and back to Disneyland!

That's un-american! I'm sure Disney are trying to get not eating on property worked in to the Patriot Act somehow.

Sorry I have no helpful suggestions, the Mexican place I used to go to a block or two west on Katella has been demolished. And the hotel I used to stay in has changed chains. I loved the clam chowder they served in their restaurant.

I need to get me some new habits.
                          Disney FAQ#275: What is DCA?
DCA stands for Disney Construction Area. All the Cast Members are themed with hard hats and steel toed boots.

Marri's Pizza on Walnut and Katella, it's historical and great food for great prices. Service is excellent.

Los Sanchez- Formerly across from Target on Chapman and Harbor, now located on Garden Grove Blv. Great value overall- sonora style Mexican Food, no complaints ever on service.

MISSED MOST: Godfathers Pizza on West just north of Katella- Pizza Buffet 3.99 11:00-3:00
