2 Guest Trapped In Monorail Nose Cone

I went around the time for fireworks to try to ride Subs (still haven't been on it, I know the humanity!) but the line was at 2 hours still and that crazy work thing is tomorrow so I left.

So after a quick ride on Buzz, I headed out for the Monorail. Then the drama - the headache, well not that bad really.

I just missed getting a ride on Submorail or Monomarine or whatever we want to call it. So Monorail Purple pulls in and I notice that the doors aren't opening for the entire Monorail. This went on for maybe 4 minutes, so they pull back. All the doors open except the nose cone and I could see two guest in there.

So the cast member is pressing down on the side release panel and nothing. At this time people are still waiting to board and we waited while pretty much everyone that operates the Monorail trying to open it from a release panel toward the bottom of the door. So this took about maybe 5 minutes. Finally the door opens and 2 guest come out cheering. Everyone waiting cheered as well. After this we had more waiting and finally we got on. YAY!

I really thought they would have cycled Monorail Purple off. Anyways the quest continues to ride Subs. See yah at meet this Sunday.

I have seen one of the Monorails get jammed but usually they can get it open after a couple of tries.

Why would we take purple off for the door getting jammed? They jam quite a bit...as long as we can open them and get them functioning again, they're fine.

Ha - When we were there in '96 for our Honeymoon we were in the cone and they forgot about us. My husband and I sat for a moment thinking they would open the door. We finally had to pick up the phone let to them know we were in there. It was funny we had visions of endlessly riding the Monorail.

I bet that was the punishment for line jumping...getting stuck in the monorail...NAY! gettin strapped to the nose of the monorail! (ooh good one!)

Back in the days when they sold "Disneyland Preview" Round-Trips from the Disneyland Hotel Monorail Station...



...they would "lock" you in the tail cone so you couldn't get off the Monorail in Tomorrowland. Problem was that sometimes on return to the hotel station...they'd forget you were in there! Many a Guest (yours truly included) got an unscheduled and free second trip 'round-the-block.

The last couple of times I went on Monorail Purple the doors wouldn't close automatically and the CM had to close them maually.

Okay---let me understand. They were stuck in the front row? Is that called the nose cone? I never knew this!!! You learn something new every day. How would they not see you in there anyway?

No, the nose is where the driver sits. The 'front row' is simply called Cab 1.

Lots of times, the air compression will leak out of the particular doors and simply has to be drained and closed, then cycled again. That is what happens when the doors won't close automatically. It's a quick and easy fix.

Yeah... I think it'd be rather hard to forget about Guests sitting in the nose cone... The tail cone on the other hand... xD

The monorails are in such bad condition, it is truly sad. I have even been noticing that when the monorails go around turns, the bodies are rubbing up against the track and that is not a great sound or feeling. Has anyone heard when the new monorail is coming back? We really need it.

We are rumored to be getting one in November. But the new ones are not "coming back." They are debuting. One at a time.
