  • Autopia Stunt Show!

    *************PICTURE PG 3!*********

    Hey Micechatters,

I was at Disenyland on Friday and I was in line for Nemo. The line goes near the part of the autopia when you go offroading.

I was talking to my cousins about the Autopia and how and if they could derail off the track. As soon as i was done talking to them I turned and saw a boy about 13 yrs old and was hitting the track back and forth and right when he came up to the offroad part, the car came off the track!

He pretty much just crashed into the side of a little hill...I was shocked! from the 20 yrs ive been coming to the park I have never seen anybody jump off the track.

His face was just as amazed as mine lol. the CM's looked a little stunned also, looking like they have never seen it happen before. They just turned off the car and all the others behind them and walked off everybody.

    My questions are.....

    does this happen often?

What could they do to prevent something like this?

    -Matt

I heard of it happening back in September in that same strech of track.

Anyone else think they need to ease up the peddle? It's hard to keep it down the whole time.

I admit its pretty fun to jerk it and bounce side to side and ive done it a few times:yea:.....but this part of the track now they have a line right next to it and only a little fence. I mean if he jumped off the track only a few feet later it could have been bad

i don't think the autopia cars could make it through the gate to hit people in the line so no worries there :P

OMG! I was in line for Autopia when this happened! I watched the mom get out with her daughter. I don't know what the kid said, but the mom grabbed ahold of her and hollered that her brother was stuck in the middle of the ride before dragging her off. We wondered what had happened. Thankfully, we were issued passes.

My sister once nearly drove off the track... of course, I told her it was Disneyland and she couldn't succeed, so she gave up... but so it is possible!? I'm so trying that next time!
I am a rabid Disney fan. Possible future Imagineer (already designing rides for it)... I've only been to Disneyland. I'm hoping to go to Disney World this summer for the first time, and TDR might be possible in 3 years.

                            Re: Autopia Stunt Show!

I didn't know it was even possible, that's pretty much the only reason I haven't tried it. And you know what, ever since I can remember I've had trouble keeping the pedal down the whole time, especially since the new longer track. The old cars were difficult and I was kind of hoping the 2000 version would change, but it's still such a pain. At least now I can have fun in the knowledge that the cheapo budget Disney set out for that update also allows it to have some fun jumping the track. If only there was a way around the darn speed governor...I obviously don't want to fly out of control, but as an adult I'm used to a little more speed and power than 6 MPH and I'd love to be bookin' down the hill at around 15 MPH. I always get so frustrated when the car picks up a little speed down a hill and gets a little excitement going but then putters down to some ridiculous get-out-and-walk speed that would make a Geo Metro owner laugh as he blows by. I mean I know it's not meant to be a full-blown car, but nowadays we have sports cars that go 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and still get 30 MPG on the freeway, going 6 MPH down a steep hill just doesn't excite anyone anymore. I'd say 15 MPH would put the "Gee whiz, I'm out of control" fear into the ride again.

By the way, the avatars/signatures sure are getting creative! I love the subs in the open seas telling it to "be free" and the hilarious Mary Poppins/Nemo seagulls juxtaposition complete with song, I was cracking up so hard when I listened to it. It's good to see people getting really creative around this board, it's encouraging.

That must have been the weirdest/funniest thing to see lol.
