IS The Bengal Barbecue Closing?

I was sure I saw somewhere that Bengal Barbecue is closing sometime this summer in order to make room for some other restaurant's expansion (maybe River Belle Terrace?). Now I can't find it anywhere, and I'm questioning if I really read that!

Can anyone help? Was this just a cruel rumor? Or is it true?:unsure:

Well I found the only ones that came up under Bengal BBQ and they're all closed so I think it's safe to say you were dreaming. I hope.

I don't have a link to where I read it in Al's articles, but I remember reading that it was meant to shut down so that it could make way for an improvement of the other restaurant in New Orleans Square. The restaurant was supposed to be turned into a two story building so reservations could be made to watch Fantasmic! from the top while enjoying their meal, and so Disney could make a buck from the renovation as well.

Has there been any recent mention of this in Al's recent articles saying this is still going to happen? I haven't heard speculation like this in a very long time. Even at the end of one of the threads I posted on here say it's pretty much speculation at that point.

Darn I love the Bengel BBQ, The only thing I didn't like were the lines, they could have used more places to sit, but it was kinda in a busy-yet-tight spot so anyways if it goes I'll miss it.

Is it closing? Yes, usually near the end of Disneyland operating hours.

I believe that Al wrote a while back that the riverbelle Terrace rennovation was pushed back indefinately when the F!2 show was shelved in favor of a lagoon show in DCA. Not certain about that though.

This is what I read (and put in my Nov. trip folder....but I cannot remember where I read it either!!)

Riverbelle Terrace and Bengal BBQ restaurants (Disneyland) may close approximately 8/15/07-sometime in the fall for a major transformation.

Last year, when this was talked about, the plans were to make the Riverbelle Terrace a two story restaurant, but do not know if that is still the case or not. OR even if this is just still conjecture.

yes it is closing come later in the year, it was just put off this year due to some more planning since they decided not to do a two story building for dinning. Though the Bangle will be closed for good...it will dispurce its menu to other restaurants. Just wait till we get closer to the end of the year to hear more about it.

See, that's what I don't get. If they're not going to do the two story Riverbelle Terrace then why close Bengal at all? It will be bittersweet if the food survives because it will not be from Bengal BBQ. That place is perfect. It's themed perfectly in Adventureland and even the food choices (well, most of them anyway) even fit the land. If they close the place down and put the Bengal Beef Skewers, let's say at the Tomorrowland Terrace or in Toontown, that's just not going to sit well. I'd prefer if each restaurant had their own unique food to offer than being able to get the same food at each restaurant in the whole park. Pointless to close the place down I think...

I think a hidden reason why to get ride of it is to clear up some traffic, it really bottlenecks by that entrance and I know I been elbowed hard least 3 times in oneday and thats not fun. Though removing the benches in the middle would be a better move. But I think the reason to move it is for the kitchen expansion, not sure.

Honestly, I think what's really creating the bottleneck is Tarzan's Treehouse...

well tons of things play in effect on Adventureland in that area, you have the tree house and entrance to Indy and the Bangle right in the same area, so you have people looking to park the strollers and people looking to sit to eat and people standing thinking whether its best to wait in line for indy or get a fast pass. If they want an eatry that bad, just take out the little play thing at the oasis and do a themed restaurant there, least your brining in money there and balancing both ends of the land with crowds

Agree. The treehouse couldn't be more of a fork in the road than it already is. Not like it's fun anymore anyhow.

Yeah but if they changed it from being Tarzan's treehouse it would interesting to go in it. I remember going in there many times when it was the Swiss Robinson Family Treehouse (did I say it right? LOL) but I've only gone once to see it for Tarzan.
