I thought he read the thing at 2:35pm-ish. I know they did one of the reenactments many years ago at that time for that reason.

Well, I just called the management offices of Walt Disney Imagineering and they dont even have the exact time on record anywhere...

So I guess we just go by therory, and whatever people say i guess is correct.

              You want some more confusion?

This photo shows the clock at what looks like 1:40pm!

...but then again it is thought by many to be a photo of the July 18th Official Grand Opening ceremony that was pretty much a repeat of the 17th Press Preview Day (right down to Walt reading the Dedication speech)...only without the TV cameras.

Re: What TIME did Disneyland open?

Yes. the PREVIEW day was July 17th, and they didn't really want Photographers in the TV shots on the 17th.

On July 18th, the day the park opened to the public (aka Opening Day), the photo above was taken...

Heck, the 10th Anniversary of the park, and the opening of Great Moments of Mr. Lincoln was on July 18th, 1965.

It is clearly a fact that the REAL opening day is July 18th, 1955.

Well on July 17, 2005, I believe the screens near the castle broadcasted the opening day speech around 4:45, claiming it was 50 years to the minute since Walt Disney dedicated DL.

I may have an answer to your question. I'm watching the original TV broadcast from 1955 (see my other thread for links). I see the clock in Town Square at what I believe is 3:40pm (it's very blurry). approximately 8 minutes later (includeing 1 minute for an ad break) Walt reads the dedication. So I make it around 3:48pm.

Edit: See below for a revision, it's actually 4:48pm!

In the TV broadcast they refer to the previous day as a "rehearsal". Revisionism only a day later you think?

                              REVISION!

OKAY! It was very blury, soon after Walt's speech and a couple others the clock is much more visible and it's 4:45pm. So what I said above was an hour out!
