  • crowds during thanksgiving

My whole family has been trying to plan a trip all together to disneyland. We did it for new years about 3 years ago and we had a awesome time. This year we are planning on spending thanksgiving together at disneyland but were a little concerned about the crowds. I've heard that there not that bad but im concerned. What do we have to look forward to?

The most crowded day I have ever experienced at Disneyland was on Thanksgiving about 5 years ago. It was miserable, vowed never to go back again on a holiday.

We've enjoyed the Resort during Thanksgiving for the past four years now.

We arrive on Wednesday and leave the following Thursday.

        Here's our personal experience:

Arrival day- We end up getting there in the late afternoon. After checking in, we head over to the Park. Crowds aren't bad, but they get heavier as the night goes on (guests arriving for the Holiday w/e). Nothing crazy though.

Thursday- Thanksgiving Day- Starts out nice (early), but then WHAM! Crowds everywhere! We leave the Park, treat the girls to a make-over at Libby Liu, and then head over to the Grand Ballroom to enjoy the Thanksgiving Day Buffet. After dinner, we enjoy a movie at the theatre in DTD. Then back to the Park for some late night fun.

Friday and Saturday- We do Knott's and LegoLand. DL is JAMMED, and they usually end up having to close off entry for a few hours.

Sunday- Back to DL. Somewhat crowded first thing, but then thins out nicely as the day goes on (guests going home). Sunday evening is avg.

Monday- Nice, below avg crowds. By the evening, empties out.

Tuesday, Wednesday and our departure day, Thursday- We OWN the place (well, almost).

For years we arrived on the Sunday after T-Day, and stayed for the week. That was always the best week of the year.

Since the word has gotten out (thanks MC...hehe), folks have started to plan for that week as well, but it is still not crowded.

        Have a great trip!

          Re: crowds during thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is usually bad. Its a 4 day weekend for most people. But the week after up to about the second or third week in December is usually less crowded, except on Saturdays.

No, not nearly as bad as New Years.

Probably due to the different type of crowd.

Around Thanksgiving time, the lines for the turkey legs are so long they're the first non-attraction that implemented the fastpass...

Yeah, after seeing those pardoned turkey's in the parade, people have a hankering for them!
