  • Mickey/Minnie Costume Question

This is a stupid question, but for some reason, I must know:

Where do the Mickey/Minnie cast members see out of the costume? Is it the mouth? I keep seeing pictures that don't line up to each other and now I'm just confused. Put me out of my misery and tell me once and for all, if you know. If it IS the mouth, isn't that an incredibly small and downward-turned field of vision?

It's ridiculous - I have no problem with figuring out any other costume from a photo, it's just this one. Once I know, I'll probably have no idea how I was ever unsure.

    Thanks in advance.

It's very possible that the eyes are made out of two way mirror type of stuff.
It's actually "Cars Land", not "Carsland".

I think it's the eyes IIRC. I've never peered into them...

That's what I thought originally, too, but then I wondered why other characters obviously have painted mesh eyes, if they can make cooler-looking ones. Unless the Mice just get cooler masks because they're The Mice.

Look around for pics of them signing autographs... Goofy and mickey and such hold the books up to their eyes. Comical looking.

Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today

          It was pain

Woah woah woah. What are you talking about Mickey/Minnie castmembers?

Well, you are all wrong... I used to work for Disney on Ice... I had once asked the question many times even after seeing the costumes very close up...

Yes. Mickey and Minnie cast members. If GOOFY holds a book up to his eyes, it's for show, because I KNOW Goofy sees out the mouth.

Now I'm even more confused. I can already see myself walking up and going, "Mickey, be straight with me. Do you see out of your eyes or out of your mouth?" And some four year old next to me goes, "DUH! Evvybody sees wiv dier EYES, dummy!"

Having been Minnie in the park and in the Electrical Parade once, I can assure you the Mouses look out of their eyes. This also makes it impossible to see anything directly in front of you without looking slightly sideways because of the big space between the eyes.

Since I look sideways at everyone in the Park anyways, maybe I have a career ahead of me as Mickey, or maybe his taller cousin.

                            There's always Mortimer.

The answer is both their eyes and their mouth. You can't see below the nose which brings in the need for a mesh screen in the mouth to see the children directly under you.
