  • Pocahontas ride idea

i got a great new idea for a Pocahontas ride. It would be in critter country because critter country is not realy sopposed to be a certian place -just old and woodsy(sp) This ride would be a dark ride sort of like Pirates. The outside would have the talking tree from the movie and it would actualy talk to guests using the technology in the end of monsters inc and turtle talk. the actual building could be a long house, or mabye a fort. The ride would be on actual boats(like pirates) and actualy be on water, exept the boats could be oversize canoes. once on the canoe/boat youd go threw Pocahontases(sp) village with the tee pees and long houses, but then the water under your canoe becomes white(your boat only speeds up a little) and you see a huge water fall coming your way and you fall (its not that steep though) once at the bottom you turn a corner and see Pocahontas jumping from the waterfall and her sister at the bottom (this is not the same waterfall and she was actualy a hologram or a projection) the next scenes come in order of the movie(i don't know what happens next in the film) but so thats what i have so far... any ideas as to how to continue this ride??

Pocahontas belongs in Frontierland. The Festival of Fool's area perhaps?

I like it but I guess it might be too similar to Splash. I was hoping they'd do something like your idea for DLP's Splash if it ever comes, but then again I love Pocahontas

fronteirland is the west not the east(although if you think of the context of "frontier" it was still meant to be the west)- critter country(Pocahontas has friends that are critters and it totaly fits better than frontierland(the last thing frontierland needs now is another cartoon(woody)

well, it would be more like pirates(just having small drops that don't get you wet at all)

edit: and i like your idea for my idea being more of a splash thing (it could go in a third gate)

woody is barely in frontierland, hes just like the mascot, buzz for tomorrowland, pooh for critter, tink for fantasy, roger for toontown, whos for adventureland?? simba?

anyways pocahontas would fit in either land, although frontierland is supposed to be by the colorado and pocahontas is in virginia, and critter country is supposed to be the backwoods of the south soooo...but we threw away those locations a while ago.

              Re: Pocahontas ride idea

I'd love to see a water ride idea for Pocahontas, but it probably wouldn't work in Disneyland because

              a) Critter Country just doesn't have the space for another flume ride.
              b) Critter Country isn't the proper setting
              c) Frontierland IS the proper setting but I just don't see it fitting in the space available.

Maybe this would be a good ride for a Frontierland in another park?

But for sake of argument, how would or should this ride play out? Here's my take:

              1. Start out in Pocahontas' village. The queue will also reflect this as you are following HER journey. When you board your canoes, you are leaving the village with other villagers waving good bye, and perhaps some other canoes with animatronics in the distance.

              2. Next point of interest could be Grandmother Willow telling Pocahontas some wisdom and guidelines... words that could be directed at the guests as well.

              3. The famous cliff that Pocahontas likes to stand on with a big drop that leads into just around the river bend full of song and excitement at a faster rate, perhaps with simulated rapids.

              4. after the fun, we slow down to see the land already occupied by Ratcliffe and his men. Tearing up the land, cutting down trees, maybe we can hear the Mine, Mine, Mine song being sung.

              5. Okay... maybe I now know why they never tried with making a ride on Pocahontas. It would be too dificult to tell the story without leaving too much out. I mean... would anyone really want to sit on a ride with a song called "Savages" being played? But say we did leave it out. How do we wrap it up nicely? I always knew we should end with Colors of the Wind, but then maybe we could ax the whole colonization all together?

              hmmmm

Adventureland? Jack Sparrow it now seems! About the locations, I think about theme rather than factual location even if it is a historically-based land

                  It's like that famous quote:

"Just because you can turn a proprietary animated feature property into theme park attraction, doesn't mean you should." --Walt Disney
                  .

I believe Aladdin would be the mascot, possibly Indy depending on who you talk to. If by Mascot you are referring to pins then it is completely up in the air because they have done a variety of characters in Adventureland outfits.

Ride- Would probably work better as Brother Bear in Critter Country. Personally I hate Pooh being in Critter Country. The few times I have been on it, I keep thinking it is a bad cross between Rodger Rabbit and Splash. As much as I enjoy it, I don't think they need blacklights everywhere... unless they plan on having a Jerry Garcia memorial in which case "Dance bears Dance"

Maybe save it for the next incarnation of the "Disney's America" Park? (j.k.)

A rough movie to turn into a ride. The movie was not without its controversy given the real events the film was based on and how the film interpreted those events. Turning it into a ride...wouldn't want that job.

Another day... another race card pulled on MC... While the actual historic events are an extremely hot topic, I believe the point of this thread was simply to build a ride based on a movie the MC Member likes. I do not believe it was meant to piss off, offend, or degrade anyone, their ethnicity, or their personal beliefs. History is not always as beautiful as the movies that depict it. Most of the "fairy tales" depicted by Disney were far worse when you read the original text.

:lmao: The race card was pulled for centuries when it suited those who sought to consolidate their power, and then some.

What Kind of Card Is Race?

I agree, but I think some folks are just having some fun with the idea.

I mean, really, what could be depicted? Maybe a canoe ride. That's about it.

Even the movies that depict history as being less than beautiful tend to soft-pedal it. Most people, if they knew saw history depicted as it really was, would react to it by alternating between vomiting and pulling their hair out at the roots.
