  • 44th Annual Canoe Races

    Early this morning (Aug. 9th, 2007), teams of Cast Members paddled their way to victory around the Rivers of America in the finals of the 44th annual Disneyland Canoe Races. This year's winning teams are DC Thunder Sammich (men's division), with a time of 3:56:54; DC's Better Half (women's division) with a time of 4:38:55; and DC United (co-ed division), with a time of 4:20:09.

    Anyone else ever had the pleasure of competing in the Disneyland Canoe Races?

    :::raises hand:::

    It was the most fun ever. Waking up at the buttcrack of dawn to "practice" at Disneyland, going around the river. Then going out for some breakfast. Good times indeed!

        They are alive and well! I hear even Florida conducts the Cast races despite not having a Guest Canoe attraction.

          i DID!!! It was fun!! Waking up at 4 AM to go to Disneyland to do Canoe races, lol!! But unfortunately, out team was disqualified for hitting the island. That is what you get when you have one asian in the front and another asian in the back........ steering, hahaha!!

          DCEC always seem to win the races every year!!!

          We were called the "Crazy Eastsiders", the Tomorrowland Team.

              I would love to have a race with the canoes. Do they have a guest canoe race?

                Nope. CMs only. Cool that they are still going strong with the races! What a great morale event.

                    I rowed on two teams this year, and both made it to the Sprints! No medals, but still a ton of fun (when everyone showed up and we didn't have to paddle the heaviest boat on the water with only 8 girls.) GO DC!

                      Jungle Cruise... one of the many times we've been told "Don't do that!". Of course we had to change the name a few times "Cheap Oars" then "Cracked Oars" then "Gerry's Kids" (after our A lead) forgot what it ended up being. Good memories, even made Theme Park 1 laugh!

                        I still have my shirt and occasionally wear it into the park. Good old #38 on the back.

                          My mom's team was the Pink Sheets and the first day they ran into the island. That summer they won!! I think it was the summer of 85?

                            I really wanted to do it this year, but I was too late to sign up. *shakes fist* Ah well, maybe next summer.

                            But I don't want to go among MAD people!
