    Two questions.

Does anyone remember this? Did anyone get to be in it? I was in it with my dad and two sisters once...probably one of my best memories at Disneyland, actually being in the parade with my family. I was in the part with Baloo and King Louie.

Why didn't Disney make this part of YOMD? Or at least something similar. Actually being part of the magic at disneyland...now that is a dream come true.

    Re: Parade of Dreams

Maybe the next parade will be more interactive like the one at HKDL with "Mickey's Waterworks", though I might see that at WDW Magic Kingdom in 2008 or 2009 as a Summer-themed parade.

The Parade of Dreams is the current parade. You are thinking of the Parade of Stars. My younger kids were in it once. They still can do the dance 7 years later. Memories of a 10 and 12 yo, who are now 17 and 19....
If you see a cute yellow lab puppy with a yellow cape, WAVE! It might be us! (Or it may be someone else that lurks here!) Thank you for asking before you pet! Next trip, Dec 22-Jan 3rd.

          Re: Parade of the Stars

I unfortunatly remember this Parade as the unfortunate replacement to Mulan when I first became a CM. It was touted as part of the 45th Anniversary Celebration, but was in reality a giant advertisement for Fantasia 2000. All CM's within earshot were overcome with joy when they replaced Pomp and Circumstance wtih actual Disney Music.

It was horrid. And for 5 years.
It may have been a fun guest experience to be chosen to participate in the parade, but it also cheapened the show by adding that many non-dancers onto the parade route. It was a brilliant idea from someone in TDA to beef up the population of the parade with free help from the audience, but the rest of the guests suffered in what they had to watch.

I got to be in it the first year they did and got a bunny rabbit hat (when they were giving the hats away). My 7 year old cousin was in it with me - she got a zebra hat. We were in the section that got to dance with characters - I got Roger Rabbit and she got Tigger. It was so much fun.

Sounds like an idea for Warner Weiss' Yesterland article down the road, don't you think?

                  Hmm...maybe.

As for all the negative posts, I can see where you are coming from. Yes, comparing PotS and PoD, PoD wins hands down as a superiour parade. However my question is, why didn't the Disney company create a better parade with the same concept? (I.E. Not the concept of promoting a movie, but the concept of direct guest interaction?)

                    Re: Parade of the Stars

I got dragged into it by my Mom, she has a huge thing for the parades. So due to the fact you pretty much have to carry your purses and whatnot with you on the route, she jammed her giant purse into my little mini Jansport.

Needless to say, right in the middle of Main Street the Jansport burst open, emptying the contents of both bags during the parade. Collecting tampons and wallets was never done so quickly!

                    Ugh.

I took the stars from our eyes and then I made a map,
and I knew somehow I could find my way back

                      Re: Parade of the Stars

I was excited to see this parade during my first trip to DL since 1998. I think I would rather have gone to the dentist without novicaine. The music made it seem so long and boring.

My brothers and I got to dance with Baloo.
Getting to be there was a dream come true. Embarassing, but so much fun.

                            lol...sorry.

Well, the upside is: If you were in the Parade, they gave you an exclusive blue fairy pin.

I guess this parade is infamous among micechatters, my bad.

                              Thank you.

For those of us Non SoCal residents, being an actual part of Disneyland is next to impossible. We cannot become CM's due to our distance and we cannot visit every other week due to both expense and distance. This parade was great for the average guest to become a part of Disneyland for a few minutes of their trip. AP's and constant visitors may not have liked it due to it's bad soundtrack or amatuer dancers, but you will still find people that don't like PoD or even RDCT.

Disney could have marketed the crap out of a quality parade with this feature to get guest attendance up and better promote YOMD. Imagine the advertising campaign..."win Dream Fastpasses, a night in the park, dream ears or even a chance to become a piece of Disney magic..." etc...
